Social Hub (Bar) Music

I often find myself relaxing in Odyssey starport bars just listening to the music. The topic of bar music has come up a number of times here and elsewhere, with people wanting to identify the tracks they are hearing. I too wanted to create a spotify playlist so have undertaken some investigative work.

Having used Shazam to identify a number of songs I noticed some commonality on certain rock compilation albums, and believe that Frontier have licenced at least some of the tracks from Extreme Music, a production arm of Sony. I've just sat through the credits and this seems to confirm it. I wonder where the others feature.

Anyway here is the playlist that I have constructed so far, feel free to let me know of further tracks that we can add. I took a slight leap by adding some whole albums even though I may not have heard every track in the bar. One particular album, Pulp Rock (https://www.extrememusic.com/albums/3458) doesn't appear to be on Spotify sadly - I wonder if we can twist Extreme Music's arm to get it on there.

This is still a work in progress as I need to go back to a bar playing some smooth jazz. Hope it's a useful starting point for others though, and I do intend to keep adding to it. All help appreciated.

Further update: I logged in again at my (current) bar, which was playing Rock earlier but is now playing some Jazz. So perhaps music is not linked to the BGS. Outrage!

Anyway the Jazz track, "Into the Blue", appears to be from https://www.brilliantmusic.co.uk/album/BM056/Jazz-Piano-Trio - and Brilliant Music are in that list of credits. I've taken a chance and added the whole Album to the playlist for now, but will refine it if this turns out to be too ambitious.

Just listening to it right now and pretty positively surprised, they were broadcasting Save My Soul, Blues Saraceno. Not bad at all.

There is some synthwave tracks they are missing i think synth or pop or electro there was this song that had lyrics "all of your work is dissapeared "or something like that and it is one of my favorite of all in the bar,i love the bar i trully love it!

Pulp Rock is now on spotify, and I've added it to the playlist. I've created genre-specific playlists too now, but these haven't been populated yet, so they're all still lumped together at the moment. I have created two new playlists though - one for the music you hear through the tannoys in stations near the lifts, and the lift music itself (of which I've only identified 2 tracks so far).

I made a Spotify list for use during ED, and it's all from bands featured in Rebel Galaxy. Pleasantly surprised by the EDO bar music!

I saw someone on Twitter who also likes the bar music last night, so this inspired me to do a little more work.
I have now created 6 playlists, which can be found on my Spotify profile here: https://open.spotify.com/user/millstonebarn/playlists

The original one still has all bar music in it, then I've set up some broad themes to break the tracks out and be played depending on mood/tastes:

• Rock/Indie/Blues
• Synth/Electronic/Wave
• Jazz/Chill/Soul

... plus the tannoy and lift music mentioned previously (these tracks are not included in the main playlist).

I have put some entire albums in these playlists where I've identified at least one track playing in a bar. Strictly speaking some music may not be in the game, but at least the theme and style should be aligned. Conversly I know there are tracks that I've been able to identify but are sadly not on Spotify. But that's where we are at the moment.

The Odyssey bar music has become my most played playlist since creating it... I hope this labour of love is useful for others too!
