Solid Mineral Spheres confirmed

So last night i went a bit exploring and came across the Notable stellar phenomena. So i went to investigate and wanted to share my findings. I have now confirmed the existence of 1 of these, 1 Prasinum Metallic Crystal, and 1 Purpureum Metallic Crystal. I found them all in the same system, the Solid Mineral Sphere was accompanied by multiple Purpureum crystals.
Spoilers in the screenshots. I did not screenshot the Purpureum but it looks the same as the Prasinum but more purple glowing. Happy traveling!

That's how the Codex works - every CMDR will get his/her individual "Confirmed" at any location where those already-discovered phenomena exist as well when scanned with the Composition Scanner (?)

Your post reads like you believed your confirmation went into the global Codex, which isn't the case. Only if you do a 1st Discovery your name & location will instantly become visible to anyone using the Codex.

Yup this entire system was undiscovered besides the main entry star, untill now. Everything else now has my nametag on it.
What @FalconFly was saying is that you didn't make 1st discovery of it galaxy-wide. The rest of us do not see your confirmation in our codex, we see only that Hamstelbaster discovered it on 3304-12-11. If we also have found one, we'll see our own confirmed there, if we haven't, there will be no "confirmed" entry in the codex.
Your discoveries are cool though, congrats! :)

Well then it is impossible to add new entries, because for each reported entry location it does not match any of the locations i found, so it just seems to show 1 of each sub-type within a specific region, that one being Inner Orion Spur. So untill new anomalies are added, only possibility would be finding an undiscovered system where there is an anomaly that has not yet been reported thru that entire system region. Thats.... hmmm well good to know i guess. At least i understand a bit more how this codex thing works now. Thanks.

Edit. after looking further i just now noticed that pretty much all reports, or most of them happened around the same dates mid december 2018, i guess this is when the first iteration of the codex dropped? I been out of the loop for a while only started catching up again recently.

I can give you 67 Bio NSPs in Hawking's Gap that the codex will say "hey guess what you found". Log out, log back, and you find out you missed the part where the Codex says "Just kidding!".

Sorry, but I'm totally sour on the Codex system. To me it is a Michelin Guide with misprints and bad directions. About the only thing I find a use for in it is my stats page.

Hm, just yesterday I was able to tag a 1st Codex Discovery for a Sector (Outer Orion Spur), I think I now hold Codex 1st Discoveries in about 6 or 7 Sectors.
Hard to tell, since the Codex doesn't even yield this basic info.
So yes, it can be done.

While it's possible, at this point IMHO it's divided into a few remaining Options :
  • you analyze the Codex for what's been found in other Sectors and try to reproduce such a find in a Sector that currently does not list it
  • you specialize on things like Variations of Biologicals and specifically search in a new Sector that already holds the type but lacks specific Variants
  • you seek NSPs and visit tourist spots (Nebulae), hoping there's still something left to discover
  • you basically ignore the Codex, follow your own Exploration goals and occasionally stumble over a random find, which may or may not be a Codex 1st discovery
If any of that is your thing, you'll have to find out yourself.

Although I'm not "Codex centric", I found it a good excuse to head out into the black and combine it with standard Exploration enroute.

And if successful, that's what you'll get :
129152

PS.
Codex itself went online on 11 Dec 2018 with the V3.3 release.
So depending on where you were on that and the following days, you might have accumulated some Codex 1st discoveries without even knowing it.
If it was in another Sector, the currently bugged Codex overview will show "0" but opening the specific Sector(s) should detail all your entries.

Ye i figured those are the main options right now that are left to get a chance for it. Perhaps with the upcoming things 29th April and future things that may be added there will be new opportunities. They should add a Codex help section in the codex :sneaky:. Also to reply on Rooster for me the codex has been usefull in other ways too, the knowledge base is very interesting to catch up on lore as i been gone from the game over a year, seeing all the things that actually exist to explore is also nice and it helped me in explaining some of the new mechanics without needing to go look it up myself outside of the game so i find it pretty nice, beside that part of the discoveries wich had led me into some confusion. Thanks for all the insights.

I';ve just flown into a sysem with
  • Prasinum Metallic Crystals
and

  • Solid Mineral Sphere
Is thwere anything that can be done with them. Can they be collected or mined?
Or are they a FD future expansion we don't know about yet?

I'm pretty sure there is some ecosystem relationship between the metallic crystals, solid mineral spheres and molluscs. If you look around more often than not you can find some kind of mollusc to play with, too. :)

Every single discovery is recorded in the codex, it's just not displayed to every cmdr, only the first one discovered for the region and the one you discover (these may of course be the same, I have a few myself). If this wasn't the case you would sometimes find thousands of entries for some items. Have a look at the EDSM online codex to see what I mean. Having something like that in game would be nice, I'm not sure what the effects on performance would be if made part of the game though. For the EDSM codex all processing is done remotely and the results passed on, but if we had thousands of player doing queries on the one database it may cause a performance issue at times.
