Solo haulage wing missions

I've been taking these either solo or with a wingman as part of our mission mix from a regular base. Combining the hauling with passenger missions, data deliveries, other single-trip cargo missions, etc.
No rush to complete, just using them to fill in when not full of cargo leaving one of the regular stops. The 5-10 million payout (for each of us when in a wing) makes a very nice bonus when used like this.

A nice addition to the available missions.

Sitting in a Cobra in solo Wing missions are not a viable option. They don't pay enough when you consider the prospect of hauling 600 tonnes with 18 tons of capacity is something like 34 trips. I have no problem with that, they are meant for Wings. However in my view they should show in the the missions or should be in the requirements not met.

Yeah, a few times. Whenever I drop off the A-B cargo, I just check the mission boards at B to see if there are any going back to my source system/station.

We should have a competition to see who can get the first A-B-C-A route going :)

How do you do that? As far as I know, you can only hold one Wing-mission / player.

I was curious to know if cargo wing missions could be carried out by just myself.... Great days indeed as they can. Three or four trips in the new extra capacity T9 normally wraps up one wing mission, and I quite like the extra ‘responsibility’ completing these missions alone.

Flimley

Agreed. A very nice feature.

A nice treat is when you get two that complement each other, so that you get a nice A-B-A route going.

I just started doing wing missions solo yesterday (3), based out of Sol. Hit the misson boards at each location after each incremental delivery. Not a -single- mission of any kind were to Sol. Kinda surprised me. Sol produces everything it needs, or maybe it's neighbors have a good dose of Sol-envy. lol.

I've done a few of them solo already, so yes they can and are a good way to play a space trucker with a big ship. However, the payout is not so great, because it does take on average 4 trips to do the average wing haulage mission, which can take an hour to do even when the systems are 3ly apart and 100ls from star. So, not very profitable doing them solo.

Yes, I've done these solo too. It helps if you have a big ship (Cutter/T9). It also helps to find a system where the goods are high value and in boom. I soloed a mission hauling 2400 tons of Palladium 13 ly away for 23 million. Four round trips for my Cutter and cash in.

It's better to do them in a wing. And you can probably find better solo mission to do by yourself, but you can do them and occasionally it's worth it.

Check the Commodities tab, select the station you're going to find the most profitable back-haul. I've had fair luck taking medicines to Outbreak stations and hauling metals back to the High Tech source.

You can take several, but can only invite wing mates to join one of them.
Thanks for that, I had no idea!

I've been working on the new engineering system and found several wing fetch missions offering Modified Embedded Firmware, Exquisite Focus Crystals or Biotech Conductors in the 3 to 5 quantity range. They just took 2 or 3 trips in my Anaconda and netted a few million in profit along with the materials. It's a good alternative for folks like me who don't really care for the other way's to get some of those grade 5 materials.

I'm seeing 9 mil wing missions for 2000T cargo to the same single hop, close-arrival station I'm seeing single 180T missions for 7mil. The payout for wing transport missions is way too low.

Also, I'm assuming that everyone in the wing splits the payout, right? (Not that each pilot gets the full amount)...

Too many Wing missions clogging up the boards in any case...

Each CMDR gets that amount if they choose that reward. It's not a split.

It all depends on what is being hauled AND system state.

In one system, they were all crap - only 3 million to haul 1000-4000 tons of biowaste or hydrogen fuel - because they were cheap commodities. So I moved to a neighboring system, with an Extraction Economy station, and two of the factions were offering missions ranging from 11 million to 25 million, hauling 2000-4000 tons of Palladium, Gold, or Silver. I did three of those yesterday.

Important note: Please watch out for the failure fine on these missions. On all three of the ones I did, the fine for failure was around 45 million credits!

I'm working my usual system (since well before 3.0). The 120-180T missions are still 5-7M each and the system is not even in boom. (Mission Payout is thankfully the same as before 3.0) It literally is less than 10 mins round trip back/forth to the "other" station inc working the boards to select and turn in the missions - but I do come back empty. ..and since I'm pretty sure its only myself and a friend working the system (according to EDSM), its fairly easy to push the system into boom. Its an extraction economy so I am comparing apples to apples.

Its just not worth running the Wing Missions... To be equitable, a 2000T Wing Mission would have to be paying 80+ million... and they're not even close...

I understand. So don't do the wing missions solo.

All wing members get the full payout. So if I do a 25 million haul mission with my 3 friends, we will all make that amount. While it's not MEGA money, it is more than we can make in the same amount of time bounty hunting (based on 2.4 BH levels, and what we should make when the KWS is fixed in a few weeks). It's also something different to do with friends.

As far as increasing the payout - well, there are already people screaming that the current level is an exploit because experienced players with big ships can carry newbies in small ships and the newbies will be getting huge payouts. If the rewards are raised even more, expect a riot... [woah]

Check out places that may have a need for illegal goods, like factions in (civil) war state. I got a neat wing mission for very few units that I could do in a single run and that paid 5 Million for what ended up being a single trip. Hardest part was finding the stuff because the commodity finder on the system map is neither great nor correct :D

If you enjoy making money, do the things that make the most money. Likewise if you're looking to raise Faction influence levels, raise your reputation, gather materials, visit planets or just shoot ships, do the things that achieve that. If you enjoy being a big-box freighter or just hauling with friends, then wing-trade missions are the ones for you.

Every mission type doesn't have to be everything to everybody, but the more variety we have the more chance there is of everyone finding missions they want to do.
