General Solution to representing player memorials in-game - Repurpose Tionisla Orbital Graveyard

As a representative of the faction controlling Tionisla, may I say that despite of some concerns about the details, we do support the idea of re-instancing the famous Orbital Graveyard. As Dharrch said before, we were involved in attempts to make this happen in the past.

The Graveyard is deeply rooted in E: D's lore and, if done right, would be an attraction of its own. If it could be made to connect us to those we have lost that would add an immense depth to it, and give us a place to visit and honour the memory of deceased friends. It would be intense, to say the least, to visit from time to time and see their ship sitting there, resting in peace as does the owner.

Last but not least, it would look good on FDev to care for their community in this touching way.

CMDRs wanting inclusion could say in advance if they wanted to be added.

The only thing I would add is that any CMDR for inclusion must be "Elite" in at least one discipline.

What an absolutely fantastic idea! I wholeheartedly support it!!!

Simple to implement, a solution to the lack of a real Tionisla Orbital Graveyard (highly significant in lore, but I imagine impossible to replicate in-game as described in The Dark Wheel), and a fitting tribute to fallen pilots.

I think multiple Beacons might be needed, but could be added as required.
Great idea!

I suggested it years ago. FD could take their most flown ship and put it in the graveyard with the commander's name on it.

I can see a problem with too many ships though, so maybe they would have to enable it to be split over different signal sources or have random instances.

Could it not be implemented in a similar way to those NPC ships that run out of fuel or whatever? You could select the ship to see the name of the fallen Cmdr and maybe somehow link it to a memorial page online that tells you more about the individual with a moderated 'guestbook'.

Don’t over complicate it!! Drew’s idea has the brilliance of being a fitting tribute to IRL fallen pilots whilst being very easy for FD to implement and maintain, and that’s crucial to getting the idea accepted. If FD want to increase complexity that would be up to them.
Definitely agree mate, was purely thinking of a way around the multiple beacons issue

Yes I am fine thanks. I still have a good few years left in me yet lol.

Instead of having individual memorials for passed commanders, maybe a single monument could be set up where people could fly to and remember passed loved ones. Similar to when you visit a monument to all who died during a war.
It would need to have a large 'no fire' zone around it too and bounties for anyone who disrespected that.

Actually with Odyssey due soon...ish, maybe a small outpost type of memorial could be created. In its social hub, there could be a 'quiet room' where you could actually sit and remember anyone you wanted to.
I think that this as an addition to the original proposal would be appropriate. This is what we do outside of the game, as represented by the Tomb of the Unknown and other such memorials.

That way, those that can be remarked are, and we still honor those that, unfortunately, go unknown into the Dark.

As to implementation, make the role call listing, then pull the player's holo-me or their forum avatar when the name is clicked on. That would be a simple database query.
