[Solved] How do you cancel jump route ?

Let's say you plotted a route with a few jumps to your destination.

During one of the stops, you decided to check out some Signal Source to salvage some materials. After collecting, you wish to supercruise and continue checking other Signal Sources, but doing so, your ship FSD engaged into jumping to the next System of the route.

You need to go to the Navigation Tab, unlock the destination first to engage supercruise. Then the destination became automatically lock again when you engage the FSD later.

Thanks!!

Go to galaxy map and click the clear route button. It will be in the same place the original route icon was when you created the route.

Shall check this out soon.

You can bind different keys for Hyperspace & SC - then you press the one you want....

There is also a key to 'retarget next system on route' when you're done scooping USS

I'm on PS4, so keypad binding would be limited. Shall investigate this option too.

If you click on a star so that it is selected, it becomes your next jump destination, regardless of the route selected. So if you have a route already in place but decide you want to "detour" from your route - say, you're exploring, and you notice that your route is passing close by a black hole, and you think you might like to check it out - just click on the detour destination, jump there (provided the detour is only one jump away) - and your original route will still be in memory, and a new route will be recalculated for you the next time you open the galaxy map.

In this case you do not need to cancel route. Select some local object instead of next star in the route - you'll jump to super cruise.

Without starting a new thread, since my query is somewhat related - is it possible to make a similar bind to individual destinations within a system?

For example, one is heading to a station/POI etc when - miracle of miracles - one spies a HGE or mission target; in this case is it possible to hit a button to return to the original destination?

& If not, why not?

It is, even with the same key - if you plotted your route there (via the system map, planetary map or correct bookmark).

If you just selected it on nav panel or via target in front of my view, you have no route saved to select the next target from.

Well, I don't know about that--specifically, that if you have a route plotted, and you're in the final destination system, I do not think it does anything else but target the station you plotted to when you arrive in-system. Change that target, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't revert to your destination when you hit next system in route, because the gal map plot is gone at that point (and a station is not a system anyhow).

That said, I'm gonna go test that tonight--could be that I'm working on assumptions rather than experience. We old people do that frequently. :D

Firstly, thanks; but doesn't one still have to reselect the destination from the nav panel on occasions - even though it is highlighted - to get it to show tarrgeted on the HUD?

Iirc it sometimes seems pretty unwieldy & inconspicuous in-game if the mechanics do as you say.

Certainly something to investigate further when next I can play. Thanks again for the pointers!

If you select a ship in supercruise, you can cycle through them with next/previous target. Any body or USS you had selected before stays selected and shows in the compass, but not in the target preview.

To get it back you can either deselect and select it again in the nav panel (clumsy) or just deselect your currently targeted ship (by using target in front on empty space ... Sometimes tricky if space in front of you is not empty - you can also use mouse look / headtracking / VR to look to some empty area before you press the button)

And I may as well remember wrong myself @dragoniv, old age and things ...
