Solving the Jaques Mystery

Yup, looks like the Fusang and Edenapel messages form a nonagram of the system.
To be fair, that's not a great clue in terms of finding something that could be anywhere in the galaxy.

The other message is still unsolved and I feel like there are still more messages that must help narrow down the search area.

Glad I could help.
I'll know where to post when I come across the next puzzle :D

Edit:
Just dropped into Kala system - it has the same Herald message as at Edenapel.

So I put the numbers into a nonogram and it's not quite working properly:

Either FD were in two minds about whether the star should be filled in or hollow or there are more messages providing multiple ways to solve it.
The system layout is spot on though.

A couple Ifs

If CMDR Cly is a FD plant because.
If the messages were flawed and they knew it was unsolvable.

Does anyone know the Commander who posted the find? I just searched here on the board and he has not posted since last year when he found the system. If he is a plant then all your cryptic work is in vain. It might be easier to figure this out.

Im actually working on. a "Whats next?" question. A few hypothesises have come to be and with the help of others, Iv starting to get that theres more to this mystery than just simply finding him. I want to know what he saw, why hes there in that system specifically, and if theres something else out there in Colonia Nebula. Only time will tell I guess! :)

Do you mean they guy who found the station at what is now called Colonia?

He was messing around with the Galaxy map, filtered by population, scanning about, and saw 200 souls stand out where they weren't expected. That's the story anyway.

Or do your mean why is Jaques there?

The plan was a big jump across the galaxy to Beagle Point, but because a commander whoshallnotbenamed loaded his station with Unknown Arftifact, he mis jumped and ended up there.

Yes I mean CMDR Cly

Was he a real player or a FD plant? I don't think Cly has posted since that event. I have a feeling he was instructed by FD on when and how he found Jaques. Look at his profile, It was created just before and was only used for about 2 months. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it may just be a duck. They messed up the cryptology too much and needed a plan to save face, finding jacques was an easy solution.

Forensics on the data may help future puzzles but then .......

Eh i dont buy it. I dont recall the dates that the clues went out or when Cly first found Jaques but i recall it being a relatively short span of time. I dont think they expected Jaques to be found quickly in the first place, so i dont think they would "nudge the plot" by having someone find Jaques by pure luck (not pure luck but quite a bit still) after only a few clues had been found in as many weeks.

Did I get this right, CMDR Cly filtered his map for Class F stars with population and the Galaxy map showed that one system with a population?

If that's true, that is the lamest thing since.... since Power Play.

How did the Galaxy Map "know" people were out there?

Or did I misread as usual?

He didn't filter by star class, just population. Iirc Frontier were caught off foot as they hadn't expected it to be found so quick. They hadn't considered it could be found on the Galaxy map this way, and I think have learnt from this mistake. They were busy making this puzzle trail and immersive content for us to find him, and it was all ruined because the Galaxy map was omnipotent.

As for the finder - he created an account to post his discovery for everyone to see. Not everyone who plays used the official forums

I think FD got confused about filling the star in.
Looks like the asteroid belt caught them in two minds too.

Weird; I was just about to necro this thread because I stumbled across my old notes and (now) immediately realized that the Galnet post was a nonogram.

I wouldn't say either, we know from the San Tu nonogram that FDev generated the data without actually checking that there would be only one valid solution.

It's nice that they re-used the puzzle idea though; and oh-so-FDev that they included all the bugs with the re-use.
