Some Advanced Squadron Suggestions

Hello, Squadrons seems to be taking off nicely, with squadrons appearing in all sizes.

I get that they're new, and still rather simple, but I have some suggestions to improve on them somewhere down the line!

Reputation With Other Squadrons
Yes, friends and foes!
People of certain ranks should be able to manually set how the squadron views other squadrons, using the same system as factions.
Hostile, Unfriendly, Neutral (default), Cordial, Friendly, and Allied.

Unfriendly through to Friendly simply show up as orange on radar.
Allied shows up as green.
And Hostile is red.

War!
War can be declared!
Simply by setting the squadron as hostile, and this will send an automated message to the Squadron, that you've declared war on them.
However, local laws still apply, unless the other Squadron sets you as hostile too.
Then it's a free for all. :D All members of the faction will show up as lawless wherever they are.
To prevent gaming it, un-declaring war takes 1 full tick to happen, so you can't declare peace mid battle and call in security.

Allies
Allies are just good buddies. Lol
I haven't thought of any good gameplay for this yet, other than sharing bookmarks, and seeing their reputation against other squadrons.
And probably allowing docking and services at carriers (when we get them).
With an option to show where CMDRs are currently located.

Finances
Squadrons can have finances!
Leaders can impose varying taxes, based on members ranks, or as a whole. Taxes are deducted automatically, much like NPC crew pay, and added to the Squadrons coffers.

You can also donate credits, as many as you'd like, but you won't get them back, and will be warned of this.

No one, not even the leader, can withdraw any of it.
If the faction is disbanded, that money is lost.
Tax changes send automated messages out to all members, and take 1 day to become active, to prevent scamming it's members.

What can this money be spent on?
First one, is obviously a carrier, and it's maintenance. When they arrive. I assume they're going to cost billion. Lol

Benefits Scheme
The squadron finances can also supplement or entirely cover members rebuys, based on squadron rank, and/or some criteria, such as "any death", "CZ death", "PvP Death", "Squadron War" etc, and be assigned per CMDR, and per rank.
Designated members can chose how much of the rebuy to cover, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%.
(Of the rebuy cost, not the ship value).

Designated members will be able to see if anyone is costing the squadron too much money, and adjust that individual members benefits to suit, or raise taxes.
Members can also opt out of using squadron finances to supplement their rebuy, on the rebuy screen, and opt to pay out of their own credits instead.

It's all optional too, you can have 0% tax , and disable all benefits, and rely solely on donations.

If the coffers deplete below a set amount, all benefits are automatically suspended.
Nothing happens to the Squadron if it has zero credits. It can not get in to debt.

Conclusion
Reputation and finances, will open up some interesting gameplay, particularly around wars, and balancing finances with supporting your members who are fighting for you.

I suggested something similar to your finance on my thread. People suggested a treasury of sorts. I really like your other ideas though. I think it would give way more control over the world to the players which I really like! Especially the war and allied aspect you suggested!

Love the allies and enemies stuff. :) Banks is good too, but if you can deposit there needs to be a withdrawal mechanism and wait for the others to start shouting about gold sellers, in 3, 2, 1...

Truth is gold sellers don't ruin games that don't give what you really need with gold. Like Elite. Anyway, great suggestions!

I wasn't worried about gold sellers, I was more concerned with unscrupulous leaders, or anyone with banking rights, running off with 10s of billions of credits. Lol

Although, I guess that is emergent gameplay! :D

The faction declaration is a cool concept -- would be great for the loose coalitions of squadrons that have already formed (or were formed even before in-game squadrons even became a thing).

And I especially like the idea of squadron finances -- which would of course be an opt-in thing (not all squadrons would have to use or even be interested in such group banking). But most of all, I like the idea of squadrons -- or coalitions of squadrons -- being able to finance major items (carriers, perhaps the odd starport (outside the bubble)), etc.). I like the idea of players being able to group up and cooperate to really put a significant, persistent asset somewhere in the galaxy (which should probably NOT be part of the BGS). ...even better if they could find a way to meet player demand (perhaps for a profit) -- ship repair or refit somewhere along a long-distance trade route, for example <shrugs>).

...And, if we're really dreaming, then the ability to get creative with their local station's bar and grill ambience/decor will be nice for when we get space legs. ;-)

Bump!

After some discussions on rival squadrons on our discord, the idea of war came up again.

Please FD! Allow us to declare war using the method above!
Allies would also be nice, even if just as a green contact.
Not too fussed about all the advanced stuff, but please allow us to manage reputation with other factions.
