I am currently trying out a python but my mistake was going silent running after getting reconnected to the server (the pirates respawn and now your cargo hold is fully of goodies). I should have boosted and done the Brave Sir Robin maneuver. I just went outside the bubble because I'd rather not deal with pirates after getting disconnected 6 or 7 times in a sitting.
BTW, if anyone is interested, they're still showing up 300 ly from Cubeo but they seem to not be a factor if you're around 500 ly or more from the bubble (my try was 595 ly).
Once this constant disconnection issue is resolved I might try back in the bubble again.
EDIT: In case anyone is still reading this thread, logged in this morning to that location at 595 ly from Cubeo, yup, three pirates spawned. Sir Robin procedure engaged. I guess they're everywhere, sort of like fungus. No need to go outside the bubble as long as THIS is going on. And here I though I had a nice mining location all staked out to myself. Now I has a sad.
