Some DLC ideas, and a case against a popular request.

I wouldn't like an exhibit style petting zoo personnally. I would rather have not so common species, that would behave like habitat one.
If they want to introduce rabbits as "petting exhibit" animals, why not, but for goats, sheeps, donkeys, horses etc it would not make sense when we already have Dall sheep, llama, Bactrian Camel and zebras

The Dall sheep and zebra aren't very good examples, being wild animals. Both the Bactrian camel and llama are domestic though. In principle I agree that if they were to do a Petting Zoo DLC the animals would have to be actual animals. In terms of how to make them more unique, I would think there could be a specialised habitat barrier type that is called 'petting zoo fence' or something, upon which you can add 'feeding/petting' stops if that's what people want in the game. In my head it would function the same way as adding climbproofing, with a check-box in the barrier's profile.

And the dall sheep is, well, a sheep. So my point was that it would be weird to have the Dall sheep in an habitat while another "petable" sheep would behave as an exhibit animal, and same with the zebra as it is quite close to horses ^^

I get what you mean, but the Dall sheep is more in the vein of a Bighorn sheep. You don't want that in a petting zoo; they're dangerous and territorial animals at times. Same with the zebra. The confusion was with the fact that you mentioned them in the same sentence as the llama and Bactrian camel, which are of course both actually domesticated.
This seems to be the most recent suggestion which encompasses a broader theme: the DLC roadmap. I've been looking for one and it doesn't seem to be public knowledge, which is a shame (I recently purchased the game). So while the TheKingoftheNorth's suggested DLC for the future demonstrates there can be a lot more content produced (and great thinking), and lack of any known roadmap, would like to suggest the following:
- PZ marketing team put some thought into marketing upcoming content/roadmap
- Maybe do something similar to Lego Star Wars - Lego put out a contest for the public to decide what upcoming content they would make (from a choice of 3). Let the users decide. ie inclusion in the process
- Respond to suggestions in the forums (I didn't see any). Feedback is great and nice to be heard. For all I know, the forums are a place to voice, but are we heard?
Frontier has always been secretive about their roadmap. I don't see this changing.
As for "public choice", the concept has come up before, but honestly I think it's a bad idea. It opens the door to far more criticism and disappointment if your choice doesn't get picked, or if you really want all the choices (which I imagine would most often be the case). As an example if they gave you the choice between Australia, Africa, and Asia, it's likely Australia would win hands-down, because we already have a lot of African and Asian animals in the game. So does that mean we now won't see Africa and Asia expanded upon in the future?
It also presupposes that Frontier can put together new content on a whim, which is highly doubtful and not very realistic. Examining the DLC we already have, they missed the mark on a couple of the animal choices, which gives credence to the idea that these packs were in the works before the game likely launched. The capybara was a much more popular choice than the giant anteater or llama, and the Arctic fox was definitely more wanted than the Arctic wolf. If we assume Frontier does indeed pay attention to the feedback and suggestion forums (even the wishlist forum) then we can only assume it was too late in the development of those packs for any significant change in the animal roster.
Hence why "player's choice" wouldn't work, because what kind of timeline are we looking at? We pick the next DLC, and have to wait a year and a half for it? I suppose they could theoretically give us the choice between three unfinished DLC packs already in development, but if that is the case then why offer the choice at all when all three are likely coming?
To the final point, Frontier has typically been pretty great at responding to feedback, especially when prompted (we've had many issues fixed this way), but we're currently going through a bit of a dry spell. I suspect that this is because we're coming up to the next version update (1.3.0) and the next DLC, which if the pattern of release continues should be due towards the end of this month or the beginning of July. Either that or it's because the UK is still in the thick of Covid-19 and like many companies Frontier is in a difficult position.
