Somebody cheer me up

I'm getting depressed now with the vibe on the forum. Do you think FD expected the mood to be like this or rather one of excitment? Do you think they are surprised by the general reaction?

Do we have reasons to be hopeful?

To be honest the negativity doesn't bother me. Most of it is about issues that I don't have a problem with. So long as you are enjoying the game I wouldn't worry as you'll always get those who like to moan.

There have always been periods like this. Moments that spring to mind were around the multiple times the external camera view and PS4 version threads were popping up.

We weathered the storms then and we shall do so again. :)

Indeed. Its an internet gaming forum, and like any game that becomes successful it will have negativity because people don't tend to post when they are having a fun time in game. :) I strongly suspect we are going to be getting a nice surprise on the 22nd.
Any game that's going to be mediocre or worse will also have a lot of negativity. Not saying Elite will go this way, as we don't know yet what state it will be in at release.

I am here and I am hope. Be glad my friend that the Great Jeff Ryan has deigned to visit your thread and spread joy. Not everyone comes so close to greatness.

Chuck Norris is only a pretender then ;)

And yes i have a teenager in the house

Who happens to own the machine i play ED on

Bah! Is that even a problem? Who cares about naysayers? I don't. Game might miss feature or two but overall it just blew the roof of my expectations. It delivered where 95% persent of other developers fed me with false promises. And I will keep supproting this game with money as Frontier roll out new features.

Problem with many folk today is that they are really into the instant gratification thing, they fail to see the awesome potential before them.

I mean, scooting about on freaking planets!!!!!, this is the beginning of a beautiful journey. I look forward to setting down on an alien planet in a few years and seeing amazing sights, taking screenshots of amazing vistas and seeing it all from a whole new point of view.

We start off in vanilla 84 elite with shiny graphics, then get to explore a modern frontier. I look forward to our journey ahead.

State of play as I see it: Dangerous as it stands passes Elite in almost all aspects. It passes FE2 and FFE in many aspects, but will not surpass them in one critical aspect, planetary interaction, at release. I'm okay with that, because the general experience of flying in Dangerous is much better than flying in Frontier.
WRT to other space sims, I much prefer Dangerous as is to anything else I've tried so I'm happy there. Except possibly Tachyon and that purely for the voice acting 'cause, y'know...

So long as FD are genuinely committed to supporting the game through to the point where it implements most of the DDA intentions to a reasonable standard I'll be happy; I'm cautiously optimistic, in that DB et al appear to intend to do so so long as they've got the cash to keep him in mansions or raspberry farms or whatever's his poison.
