"Something for the ladies" - Feminine versions of rank titles please?

Evening all,

Sorry if this comes across as a random point, this isn't something I am requesting for my benefit as I am a beardy block IRL as is my CMDR in game, but "Duchess" "Princess" and "Queen" ranks is something I'd like to see added to the game as a QOL improvement for our female players... or female characters.

I know some real life blokes who RP a female CMDR in game, and I also know some ladies who play a female character in game, but all of them get lumbered with "Duke" "Prince" "King" etc for naval ranks, can we make this thread fairly active to keep it bumped as coordinated effort to persuade FD to say "OK point taken - we'll put this in as one of the minor changes in 2.4 / 3.0".

I think it would wholly unreasonable to expect them to jump on this immediately, but it would be nice just to see FD say they'll end the unintentional discrimination against out feminine CMDR's in a reasonable time frame.

TL-DR chime in on this thread to keep it bumped to the top if you want female rank titles to be made available to female CMDR's ( and NPC's?)?

---- updated to add----
Props to akr for this contribution
Outsider, Serf, Mistress, Squire, Knight, Lady, Baroness, Viscountess, Countess, Earl, Marquise, Duchess, Princess, Queen.

Although earl as applied to female players would need revised as the Lady title is already used as the feminine equivalent of Lord.

I am not going to spam this thread, but I can see why some Imperial Players would like the correct honorific titles to be utilised. It would have to be linked to the gender specific account details (or the Holo-Me function), but it should not be too difficult to implement.

well i am one of those who maintain gender identity in game and yes being labeled a prince is a bit of a misnomer, but having gone thru all the other male honorifics to get there it still removes some of the depth and irks abit too, id like to think it could be fixed as i have run a quick poll of the other females i know in game and yes we are all for it !

In for german translation! (Kommandantin, Laserin, Anacondin etc.). Not only the ranks - everything!

The Empire are a bit weird about that. Arissa Lavigny-Duval is the Emperor, because they've never had an Empress before now and as I understand it they would basically find it disorientating and confusing to not have an Emperor (although they did change it to "bask in her glory").

But Princess Aisling Duval is definite proof that there are feminine forms of the titles we can obtain, so the Empire isn't so patriarchal that all their nobility are men (see also: the late Salomé). They're just not shown at the moment. Of course we obtain our titles through a sort of Imperial navy auxiliary rank thing so what they really mean is kind of murky, but it would be reasonable to me to have:

Outsider, Serf, Mistress, Squire, Knight, Lady, Baroness, Viscountess, Countess, Earl, Marquise, Duchess, Princess, Queen.

(Some of them just plain don't have feminine forms?)

Beyond 2.4 is slated for quality-of-life improvements, and there's a gender flag in Holo-Me that's more easily accessible than in the options menu of previous versions, so all it really needs is an additional, feminine, text lookup table (for each supported language) for the Imperial ranks (would any of the Federation ranks be different?) and picking the right one - and presumably checking the text fits in the boxes would be the main QA thing. A bit of i18n and QA, not a major feature, and definitely looks like something that could be a nice little minor we'd-like-it feature for all female Commanders out there (players and characters).

I'd like it.

When it was bought up last time, I think the reply was that they were no longer considered Gendered titles

Princess Aisling being a princess by having the Imperial Blood vs a title granted by the Imperial Naval Auxiliary

The titles of the Imperial Naval Auxiliary seem to be an oddity as they don't represent a rank in imperial society which goes Foreigner -> Slave -> Citizen -> Client -> Patron -> Senator
Not do they Align with the regular Imperial Military Ranks which use the ranks of General, Captain and Sergeant, and most recently Senator Patreus being Admiral of the Fleet

Doesn't seem like it's worth tweaking anything about naval ranking when the whole thing is just a placeholder waiting to be thrown out and replaced with a full naval career system.

I vote no. And I'd like to go a step further.

I request all verified female CMDRs earn 77% of the credits male CMDRs earn, for the same grind. The missing 23% should be gifted to all male CMDRs who are about to deal with the "bug problem". It gets old. And no, I'm not using a tissue. I'm using plasma accelerators.

+1

Wouldn't mind seeing that. Everyone complains about things that 'ruin their immersion' (even things that don't, really) yet it's odd that no one really mentions this. Let a couple of wires hang down in a cockpit though, and everyone loses their mind. LOL

+Rep for posting something that makes sense, and is constructive. Not something we see enough of on the forums these days.
