PvP Sorry another question for the PvP'ers out there!

If I get interdicted by someone who immediately turns on the Reverski-switch and pulls out his/her LR G5 modded hitscan weapons, I disengage and low wake. Then they can come for me again and we can repeat the process until they get bored and move on.

I'm venturing into the world of PvP, and to be honest reversing away from another ship, improves the turning arc, that's why I do it, in PvE, but it's frowned upon ?

It's not a fight anymore if you only reverse. It's a matter of who has engineered their weapons for the longest range. Also, it does not improve your combatflying technique in the least. If you want to get into wing fights, your reliance on reverski would be at the detriment of your wing.

TL;DR: It works against single commanders, but it's quite Meh! tbh.

Yeah because 1) it's an utterly skill-less advantage (and an advantage it is) and 2) inherently relies on the opponent walking into your trap, even if they know what you're doing - if both players resort to reverski...well you don't fight.

It also carries few counters when performed "correctly", and relies on the weird speed limits ED implements for its combat.

Can any seasoned PvPers recommend any You Tube channels to watch re: dog fighting/tactics

I'd start with Truesilver before any explicit "tactics" - Truesilver offers the best advice on actual piloting period - but also offers some excellent vids on using things like gimballed weapons correctly.

Once you know the techniques, the tactics fall into place.

Reverski.

By flying FA Off in reverse and turning when you try to boost on them they can effectively force a constant face tank. This means a bigger ship with any level of half reasonable speed can, with minimal skill used, mitigate most of the agility advantages of a smaller ship. It also allows long ranged setups to take advantage of a situation you cannot prevent due to ED's bizarre combat physics, makes aiming fixed weapons considerably easy, and makes it easy to lock pips to 4/0/2.

It's used by some and despised by many, to the point we've discussed changes to flight mechanics in the past to remove the ability to do this.

How you deal with it is up to you. You can master your evasion tanking and bring long range weapons, or do what I do: hit reverse too, wave at them out the window, and use chat to tell 'em where the forward throttle option is.

Perhaps the only reasonable chap to use it was cillit bang, who practically brought it to the surface...in a viper. Rather than forcing a face tank to win against smaller ships, they fought just about anything using reverski and the evasion tanking you could master to win against such builds.

Observe:

It's considered a skill-less way to win by most.

I liked the video, did the FDL combat log ?

I would say if you get interdicted, reverski is a proper evasion technique. Do what you need to do to survive. If you are the interdictor of an aggressive target that fights back, and you then use reverski, that's pretty chicken-. But it's still a technique, and any cmdr willing to fall for it deserves what's coming to them.

and i 'think' you can get marked down in boxing for not actually boxing just moving backwards and jabbing!

you never watched a mayweather fight? and he retired undefeated. [note: he was an excellent evasive boxer]
