South American DLC Appreciation thread

I'd like to use this thread to thank Frontiers for this new DLC. Each and every animals looks amazing, the scenery is awesome, and the free update adds a lot of necessary tools to the game.

I especially want to see the Anteater. It has always been one of my favorites.

I have my concerns regarding the amount of the animals in the DLC, which I have voiced in another post (and got a response from Bo if anyone with similar concerns wants to check the thread), but within what we've got every animal looks amazing.

I'd also like to thank the team for listening to feedback and being open and responsive when communicating with the players.

Can't wait for Tuesday!

Thank you to frontier for the latest pack and update. I’m blown away by the creativity and realism this game offers. The llama was a big surprise for me in this pack. Not that I thought it wouldn’t make the roster in a petting zoo dlc or something along them lines but it looks magnificent. In the Arctic pack I think the dall sheep was the unsung hero but this is a harder pack to judge. The jaguar was very much expected and looks amazing. The frog is great. The giant anteater is a very nice addition. And the capuchin monkey was a nice surprise. I honestly expected a howler or spider instead. But still a great choice as well.

Nice thread! :) I voiced my thanks for the free update. With the South America Pack I wait till I play it, but I'm sure I'll be happy at the end as well. As I said, it's not the small dlcs that I mind but the themeing of them, which worries me.

I actually can't believe that we will have it on tuesday already. I remember times were game addition were announced months if not a year up front with information bits here and there. It was an endless waiting but I miss hyping and looking forward to something new for longer as well. It also meant waiting for something bigger. However, I can't wait to scroll to the new building pieces. The animals have to wait, I'm afraid, as none of them does really fit into Königsfreuden and I will be busy with that elephant house for long I guess. Ugh. It's the point where you are tempted to start a new project even though the current one isn't finished.

I'm really excited. I can't wait to let Llamas roam trough my already built Petting Zoo and I was inspired yesterday to build a Enclosure for Giant Anteaters next to it. Maybe they will share their Enclosure with Capuchin Monkeys.
I really hope the Butterfly-Decorations in some of the Pictures mean we will also get Butterflys as Special Effects

The thing I like most is the addition of the Giant Anteater.

Not a really good builder but with the "research within the franchise"-change - I can focus on building a themed zoo from the start.
To me, that change really helps me with the DLC.
I really don't like demolishing the entire zoo after you did the research.

This is me. All the time. And my zoos never get finished. I have so many ideas and many of them don't fit well together to put it all in one zoo so I keep making new ones. But I've been working on my local zoo and I am determined to have it finished. Plus, it's so much easier to build when you can follow pictures.

Buuuuut, with this DLC and the update I am going to start a new franchise zoo and I want to build a cat sanctuary! I am going to start with a couple of animals that are not so demanding (especially regarding the food cost as I need to earn more money so I can support all my wonderful big cats) so I'm thinking llamas, peafowls, capuchin monkeys at the entrance, a couple of exhibit animals and then I'll go from there.

Tuesday can't come any sooner! :)

I feel the transfer of research is one of the best changes we've got. You can really focus on smaller, themed zoos. This update is going to bring us all sorts of great stuff.

Yes, thank you Frontier:) I am glad for any additional animals and especially for the anteater and the jaguar, which were both on my personal list of most wanted animals. The rest of the animals are also awesome and they seems to be a very high quality, which of course is a standard for Planet zoo. And lets not forget the beautiful foliage and scenery, I enjoy the tropical biome.

I also appreciate all the improvements and added features in your free update, and while of course you are a company, it really shows that you care for the game and its players. Thanks for always listening for our feedback even if we sometimes are loud and demanding bunch. I had my share of concers like animals aging or an offline management mode, both of which were addressed quickly, so I have no doubt you will continue to take our feedback at heart. We players mean well after all because it is our favourite game and we want to see it thrive. 😇

I feel a bit like I felt around christmas: having trouble concentrating on my daily work because I'm so eager to plaaaaay :D The last couple of days, I played almost every evening, after not really touching the game for some weeks. I started a sandbox parc to just play around with animals and habitats, and I can't wait to add the new species :)
As a cat person, the jaguar is probably gonna be my favourite (I have also thought about a cat sanctuary, @PeppyPepp !), but the others are beautiful as well. More foliage is also very much appreciated. Jungle is always beautiful, so the new content simply fits my taste.
Even though sandbox is fun at the moment, I think I might start a new challenge zoo or even try franchise after a little while. So happy the pack is bringing back the excitement for me - as I left out the Arctic Pack, this is my first addition to the base game and the announcement just fueled my creativity and cheers me up during quarantine.

As I still haven't used all animals in base game (which doesn't substract from the fact that I need more animals), I'm currently thinking of a way / a line of smaller prjects to actually have them all used once. So I also thought about a cat park, a canid park, a reptile park etc.

These animals look so beautiful, and I’m sure the build set will be just as amazing. I would love to have a DLC with at least 8 animals, but when the quality is so high, we have an incredible free update adding new game mechanics and features and increasing animal social interactions, and knowing that we will have an update soon with coat varieties, I’m impressed and grateful - Frontier have smashed it out of the park. Thank you team and well done!

I’m super excited for the Giant Anteater! I got to see these guys in real life for the first time in December and I loved them. They look so perfect in game and I can’t wait to have them.

I’ve had a really great idea for a jaguar enclosure since we were guessing base animals before release, and I’m so excited to be able to implement it in my zoo!

The capuchins are an exciting addition that I honestly wasn’t expecting: I thought they might avoid the complicated animations of a smaller monkey. I actually love the design choice of their happy faces. They’re a little cartoony, but they make them sweet. Having worked with capuchins, they can be devilish little guys and quite intimidating. Planet Zoos capuchins look like mischievous little things, but adorably so.

Llamas? The model is spot on, the crias are adorable. I didn’t think I’d be impressed with them, but they’ve won me over. Better start thinking of a cool enclosure design - let’s see what build items we get.

The red eyed tree frog is stunning!! He’s so under appreciated here but his model, colours and anjmations are spot on! Thank you for adding such an iconic species - red-eyes have been one of my favourite frogs since I was a kid. They’re a rainforest ambassador and so unique and fun to have in game. Looking forward to popping in on them.

Can’t wait until release! Thank you again Frontier!

Agreed! The animals look beautiful. Everything else looks amazing too — looks like we're getting a whole host of assets!

On the note of some people thinking there's not enough animals, I think its silly. Animals in this game definitely take a lot more work to create. A vast amount of animations are needed, so are model variations for cubs / adults. Texture are beautiful too. Anyone who's remotely attempted to do 3D modeling or anything of the sort would appreciate the work that goes into just one animal. However, it all comes down to the price point. I think for $10, it's perfectly reasonable and that's a lot of content (+ artist / dev time) that went into those $10.
