Not particularly Elite related but i was messing around in Space Engine and took a few screenies planetside and one outside the milky way...made me very excited to be able to eventually land on a planet and perhaps see such sights from ingame.

Very nice!

One thing that got me very excited is that DB said in an interview that Achenar (Imperial Capital, I tihnk) is well outside the Galactic plane, meaning that there's less crud and you can see loads more stars and stuff than you ever could from Earth! I can hardly wait!
