Space balls

As a dedicated space tourist (AKA explorer, mostly aimless) I'm having a ball just flying around the galaxy visiting real stars. But the planets and stars all seem to be perfect spheres, which are a bit dull.

I visited Algol last night (magnificent, well worth a trip), an exceptionally close multiple star system. The red giant Algol B should be pulled right of shape as millions of tons of star matter are sucked from it into Algol A. To watch the matter spiralling off into Algol A would be spectacular :)

Also fast spinning stars and gas giants should be flattened like oranges - go look at Jupiter.

Off-topic as regards ED, but simply as an aside, have you tried SpaceEngine? It is not a game as such, but it has the wow factor for beautiful scenes. Your post made me think of the odd shaped stars it has (not looked at it for many months so not sure if it has stellar matter robbery, but to have that in any space sim would be very cool... or hot...). If/when ED allows landing on planets and roaming around I hope it looks at least as good as SE.

There are actually quite a couple of oblate gas giants. I agree about stars, though. That is something that is missing.

Definitely.

FD have done an amazing job with the visuals already but there is still so much to add in if they want ED to be as realistic as possible.

Accretion disks
Plasma flows
CMEs
Black hole and neutron star visuals brought into line with current theories

etc, etc.
