... lol, I knew it was just a matter of time before we drag other famous space ships into this thread.

Inevitable is inevitable!

Majestic will so lose.. The shields on thunder road are too powerful lol

Loved that show when i was a kid. That wave something canon that Yamato had at forward bow would pulverize the Farragut Cruiser!

A hypothetical ship that breaks the laws of physics vs two pseudoscience vessels. Loving it..

Neither would win, cause they both will never exist in the same combat scenario. :) "Know Thy Enemy"

Real question is how well would the space ship Yamato stand against Titan class capitals from EVE? :p

Titans are scary, but that Yamato's Wave motion gun, though... erasing whole continent is far beyound capabilities of EVE's Doomsday devices.

I would assume that "space battleship Yamato" is a reference to the Japanese 1970s anime series of that name, and/or the ship Argo that appeared in the English-language version of the show, Star Blazers, and/or various attempted Japanese-language relaunches since then. In those shows/movies, for those unaware of the series, the old wreck of the Yamato is secretly converted into a modern 23rd century space-battleship and launched to save Earth and to fight Earth's enemies.

I voted "Yamato". That thing could actually do considerable damage in a relatively short time period. It may have been only as big as an iCutter, but it had far more firepower than any player-ownable ship in ED - let's say nine class 5 railguns... on turrets! Then there's the primary weapon, which is like this class 20 plasma accelerator. As well as fighter bays, missile launchers, torpedos, point-defense and small laser turrets galore. A full broadside from the SBS Yamato could vaporize an enemy carrier in seconds. As for the opposition, not only do they not have any shields, but have you actually seen ED capital ships fight? They might look big and impressive but they're pathetically underpowered for their size. They take ages to destroy even a tiny little attacking ship, never mind a rival capital ship.

The basic problem with these ridiculous and pointless comparisons is that no one ever properly translates one ship into another's universe. Put a Farragut into the Yamato universe and it's now toting lasers capable of firing accurately at dozens of km with much more DPS than we seen in Elite. The main guns could vaporize planets and the small guns are as big as battleships. Alternatively put the Yamato into the Elite universe and you've got class 5 turreted railguns that rarely it because of the wobble and that burn the ship out as soon as they spool up, you've got a class 20 PAC with a 3 km range and heat generation that won't allow it to be fired no matter how many heat sinks you have.
And you must know that the NPCs do reduced damage to one another, go ahead and fire on a capital ship and see how long you last against it's guns.

So the Yamato is better orbital bomber. Yet I doubt that she could survive doomsday hit: that thing is about the size of the average cruiser in EVE. That being said, I wonder how these capitals from Elite would look like in the company of EVE`s capitals, heh.

Not too bad as you can see on the pic I've just thrown together (spoiler below). Farragut fits pretty nicely into the Caldari style, even :) I'd say she is roughly the size of the Charon.

Of course, Leviathan absolutely rules here. But it is 20 km long ship so the space stations from the Elite's universe would also look small in comparison (couldn't bother to put Coriolis or Orbis there, sorry).
