I have taught, learned, raised kids, played games prepared gourmet meals, built computers, photographed, recorded music, played instruments, done experiments, walked on beaches and in deserts, climbed mountains, parasailed, designed and built kites and flown them, gone boating, raced rode bicycles, swam, ran, well the list can go on forever and each experience is different, do you see the difference yet or am I wasting time trying to enlighten the unwilling to learn?

The point I am trying to make is simply that everything in life is simply a combination of actions at it's most fundamental level. Climbing a mountain or flying a kite is mechanically no different to caving or riding a motorbike.

Skyrim has mining too. But its a grind, Skyrim sucks! I wish i did not spent thousands of wonderful hours enjoying it plus all its DLCs.

Lol and that's exactly why all these threads should instead be entitled, "my personal preferences in games differ from what Elite offers". Personally I did not enjoy Skyrim. I put 23 hours in and decided I was done. In 2 and a half months I've put 200 hours in Elite. If there was nothing to do I don't see how that would be possible and if I didn't have fun doing it I'd be a masochist to continue.

Just saying Troll is not addressing the problems. I paid over £100 for life time seasons. so don't troll me!

When the perceived problems are your own opinion, there is no helping you. Sorry you wasted your money, maybe you should have done some more research first before investing.

YES, if they had offered a demo version we could have made an informed decision and not wasted any money on it, instead they sold it before it was completed and said 'but when we are done it will have planetary landings and exploration, solo offline mode, deep and immersive game-play' and it sounded wonderful, then we got the game and found it was... what it is. We felt ripped off and lied to, because we were, there is no landings yet and when and if they do it will be another purchase. There will be no solo offline play because the economic simulation is so deep and important in the game it needs to connect at all times, but in fact the economic simulation is horribly flawed and not a simulation of anything even remotely realistic at all.

Did you read the original post ?. Don't you want a better experience playing the game .. or are you happy as it stands ...

... this is a game in development with a 10 year development plan.

... Braben himself compared the game to a house of which first the foundation would be constructed and the rooms and details would get filled in during further development.

...Of course nobody ever told anyone that FD, compared to the giants like UBI, EA and Rockstar, is just a small dev who cannot create everything at once and simply needs time to build this monumental project.

And nobody will ever point out that in a few years time this game will be unrecognizable concerning its richness of content.

Well said.

I can't speak for FD. But as a developer, I know how frustrating it can be visualising all the 'cool' features that you want to build into a project but knowing that there is a lot of infrastructure to build out first. I can only imagine (and hope) that FD wants a firm foundation to work with (flight, combat, landings, etc) so that they can really extend the 'life' of the universe. And content would always have to be balanced with the mantra of 'blaze your own trail'. Simple follow-the-dots gameplay from start to some end goal isn't going to cut it here.

The cool thing is that we still get to play the game (and have an influence on - I'm sure FD does listen to player reactions) while it's being built. I'd rather play with it now and as it develops than be forced to wait for some perceived 'perfect' version.

They were always clear about landings, and several other features, being paid expansions. Even before the game was kickstarted.
And since you're writing "IF they do it", maybe you've been living under a rock and missed the Horizons announcement? Landings are coming end of the year.

This is a full product not a beta?

I have read that, I also read you will be able to play solo offline mode so I tend not to believe what FD says until I see it myself. There is always a possibility that they will announce that the planetary landing update they had envisioned won't work with the current game build and so it will not be added because it is not the game we want to make.

You guys should read this: Sunk-Cost Fallacy (also known as: concorde fallacy) If you're not happy, learn your lesson and move along, you're wasting precious moments of your life wailing at the wall.

It's a debug camera - don't tell me you are expecting to fly and control the ship with it? That argument has been done to death and thankfully FD did the right thing and gave us a camera great for taking pretty shots but not a lot else. ;)

The whole point of Elite is you are a single pilot, trying to make ends meet, with very little impact on the world around you. You view the world from your cockpit. There is no live action cam or 3rd person cam. That is the whole ethos of the game and I applaud FD for sticking to it, Makes it refreshingly different to the normal dirge out there.
Except I'm a multi-millionaire.

Yes I am an investor and can voice my opinions. All the replies are a little sycophantic and defencive , I don't hate the game, I want more than you are willing to except.
