Spaceports only have one entrance.

Landing at my local airfield...

...is a completely different matter, since we are looking at a game with the expressed purpose of allowing to run contraband, if you're just skilled enough about it.

So you either have to make a hasty entry, or you have to approach the station stealthed. Neither of which would not make "real" customs inspectors curious about your cargo.

Comparisons with real life fail. Same with laser beams, flight models, faster than light travel etc. etc.

So I'd expect at the busier stations there would be some sort of ATC, when there are hundreds playing, you might have to get in a queue, wait your turn.

They have. "Request denied" is a real bummer if the environs is swarming with police craft. ;)

Y'know, you do have a point there. I'm not colour-blind, but I have been thinking about this.

I noticed that some of the station types (can't play the game right now - busy working) have animated arrows ">>>>>>>>>>>>>" at each side of the entrance.

The trouble is (from memory) that each side is pointing towards the inside of the station - and this puzzles me greatly.

For the colour-blind, a very simple solution would be;

From the outside of the station, the green side arrows are animated pointing towards the station inside

From the outside of the station, the red side arrows are animated pointing from the inside of the station to the outside.

ASCII representation as seen from outside the station:
(pretend there's some perspective to this ;) )

*|>>>>>>>|_________________________|>>>>>>>>|*

Don't know if others can visualize that like I am, but I reckon that would be a simple solution.

Great idea, as a colour blind commander that would be a great help.

As with any rotating object, there is only one axis of rotation. If we suppose that the entrance should be on that axis where would you put the other entrance? Only one place, at the extreme opposite end of the station. Which means you would have to duplicate all the station services and such, or provide a means for ships to traverse through the stations.

It actually seems plausible to launch a ship by transporting it to the 'surface' of the station and simply releasing the 'clamps'?

Because than it needs less power for the forcefield :) and its lot cheaper and easier to make a single enrance and I think its a very realistic explanation.

I think your problem is not that there is one but that you find them small.

I can enter with my lakon 9 using the sides to give other ships space to came out . I think the entrance is huge.

Beside I can't see the realism in having separate hangar entrances for in/out .

OK I'll bite. What mechanism would be used to "transport" a ship to the surface of the station? Won't there be bulkheads and the stations hull in the way?
