Species Field Guide - Qianzhousaurus

One of the best parts of this reveal is that we can finally have multiple species of theropod in the same enclosure with little to no chance of them going after each other. No more small theropods being bullied constantly, and you can have theropods form the same place and time together like Spinosaurus and Carcharadontosaurus.

So based on the species profile - Qianzhousaurus needs at least 2 specimens to be kept together. But I do wonder what the the upper limits are to keep them happy. 5,7 or something like 10 species. Is it possible these a pack hunting species of long-snouted tyrannosaurs?

I am very VERY happy to see an Alioramini tyrannosaur finally in this game.

It’s a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.

This dinosaur is a wonderful addition to the game not only because it has disproven all of 4chan's species roster leaks, but also because this dinosaur was discovered by Steve Brusatte, who is a palaeontological consultant for Jurassic World: Domminion!
As I always tried saying before in these forums, never 100% trust information leaks, no matter how accurate they turn out or how much we want to, no matter their origin.

Because this thing isn’t in the 4Chan roster “leak”, that should make us wonder what else unexpected is coming down the line, if any. That’s what’s very exiting, and what should matter now.

The mad lads finally did it! I said just the other day that Frontier has had nearly to months and should probably show us a confirmed dino that wasn't on those leaked lists and they'd been dragging their feet. This one looks great!
Half disappointed it wasn't another flyer, but was exciting all the same to see a brand new species :D
I adore my mid-sized carnivores to high heavens and this one looks really nice!

I must admit! Ya'll are keeping us on our toes and chomping at the bit... The hype is realer than real. This was great to highlight this new addition to the roster of prehistoric animals. I'm really feelin the resting animation along with that tracking/ sniffing animation. Question: Can we expect to see some even more dynamic herding amongst the herbivores when they all start infectiously panicking? Or will they continue to run in random directions.

shoves Amargasaurus and Coelophysis out of the way
This is definitely my favourite brand new species, not hard since I love my mid-sized carnivores. From the inspired like looks, to it being one I have personally never heard of until today. I keep coming back to the video to watch it. This joy is silly, I'm not a child!

Yeah, apart from Therizinosaurus it's not easy to predict the future direction.

Looking back into my old summary of the wishlist megathread (up to post 805), Qianzhousaurus was suggested by only 3 people (congratulations to Jurassic Tyrant King, Robo-birdie & Aharttsx by the way), though the similar/related Alioramus did have 12 people behind it.

In contrast the other new dinos, Amargasaurus & Coelophysis had 56 & 34 people behind them respectively (Amargasaurus was second in popularity), so it's clear that popularity isn't everything (we have seen that already with things like Nigersaurus, though I don't think quite as extreme as this).

Well, just because an idea or request gains significant viral popularity or voting rate, doesn't always mean it's a guarantee or very big likelihood it will happen. All developing projects of every type are like that. That's why it's rather exiting to wait and see what other big surprises, predictable or not, would come for JWE2 before and after launch, as long as speculations stay as speculations.

There goes a rumor that the creators of Jurassic Park franchise, REALLY HATES Therizinosaurus, Styracosaurus, Protoceratops, Dilophosaurus and Kentrosaurus, so it is still a chance therizinosaurus won't be in the game.

Also, people liking this albertosaurus-wannabe more than Amargasaurus? Really?!? Huh?

And what's the problem with Albertosaurus?? Each person likes some specific dinosaurs

An interesting rumour, I'm not sure why a grown adult would care enough to go out of their way to prevent any specific species from existing, especially having failed previously with 3. Disliking something is fair enough, but never approving designs or banning it for that reason is simply childish, no reasonable adult would do that.

There are certainly similarities to Albertosaurus, proportion wise I think it's only just different enough to justify (it's got a smaller head, lighter build, probably a little smaller, lives in groups as opposed to the other two). Different people like different things (it doesn't excite me too much, but quite a few have wanted a larger Asian carnivore for example).

Fair comment, I liked it

He hasn't failed with 3, just with one, but he started production AFTER Jurassic Park 1, so that's why Dilophosaurus never entered the movies AGAIN, same with Styracosaurus and Kentrosaurus, they never saw the light in ANY movies, always picking a stupid replacement for a ceratopsian, like the one with the holes in the neck-shield. He currently uses the feathers-excuse to keep Therizinosaurus out of the movies, and probably out of this game as well, good thing the movies-guy isn't the same as the game-guys, so I still have hope that Therizinosaurus will become reality one day.

Thanks! :D It's such a cool dinosaur and I'm very pleased to have it in Jurassic World Evolution 2.
@Jens Erik

Many people have noticed and so have I but this dinosaur looks so cool it reminds me of one of those Far Eastern dragons from Chinese mythology I wonder if this dinosaurs design is also inspired by dragons from Chinese folklore
I'm not entirely sure, actually! We work closely with Universal in order to ensure that Jurassic World Evolution 2 is the most authentic Jurassic franchise gaming experience possible.

Most authentic, in a rather selective way it seems, prioritising some things at the expense of others?

Either way I love the design so this dinosaur it does remind me of a dragon and I absolutely can't wait to get my hands on a copy of this game or even a deluxe version of this game. Although I am hoping that Teratophoneus or a smaller Tyrannosaurid also makes an appearance in Jurassic world Evolution 2, I would choose another Tyrannosaur called Alioramus but since we have this dinosaur Qianzhousaurus a close relative of Alioramus and probably would look the same. Yeah I would definitely go with Teratophoneus since this dinosaur never got to appear in Fallen Kingdom or in Jurassic world evolution but in mods. Although I am looking forward to seeing the game in full swing can't wait I'm really looking forward to the game when it premieres on consoles and PCs

People keep saying that Qianzhousaurus and Albertosaurus are very similar, but I honestly can't see it aside from the fact they're both mid-sized tyrannosaurids and some very basic structures.

Q. rex's tail is a lot slimmer; its arms are much larger with much longer claws; its eyes are larger; the brow ridges speak for themselves; the ridges on the snout, head, neck, and body; and of course the longer narrower snout with a little bit different shape of the jaws. And there will also be the behavioral differences if they keep Alberto's cautious nature and animations, Q. rex is far more gung-ho and confident in its personality.

Well - calling Qianzhousaurus an Albertosaurus wannabe - would be like calling Amargasuarus an Apatosaurus or Diplodocus wannabe. Which is of course very inaccurate on both counts.

Qianzhousaurus is an Alioramini, Tyrannosaurine Tyrannosaurid. And Amargasaurus is a Dicraeosauridae, which is a family of short necked Diplodocoids.
