Welcome back, Park Managers, to our latest Species Field Guide!

In this series, we discuss some of the fascinating dinosaurs and reptiles you're able to care for in Jurassic World Evolution 2, including both familiar faces and some new ones, and we're really excited to be able to continue sharing and highlighting them!

Today, we'll be looking at one of the upcoming prehistoric species joining us in the Feathered Species Pack, coming on March 30: Yutyrannus!

Yutyrannus, a genus of tyrannosauroid theropod dinosaur, lived during the early Cretaceous period in what is now northeastern China, Liaoning Province. Derived from Mandarin Chinese yǔ, meaning Feather and the Latin word tyrannos, meaning tyrant, the name is certainly befitting, as it's one of the largest known feathered dinosaurs! The species name huáli is also derived from Mandarin Chinese, meaning beautiful, which notably references the beauty of the Yutyrannus' plumage.

Dominant and striking, with impressively powerful legs, the carnivorous predator was thought to be a surprisingly social species, preferring to hunt in packs.

Being a social species, keeping the Yutyrannus with a few of it's own kind will keep them content. Keep an eye out though, your Yutyrannus could challenge another over dominance! Make sure you place them in an enclosure with a generous amount of open space, which should also facilitate their need for additional forest coverage.

Yutyrannus are natural born hunters, so they'll need live prey to pursue and feed on. Being a carnivorous species, they won't spare your guests, so make sure you have a capture team ready in case of breakouts! Caring and maintaining these new additions to your park will definitely attract guests from all corners of the world, ready to marvel at the Yutyrannus' unique plumage.

We hope you enjoyed this introduction to the distinctive Yutyrannus, we're incredibly excited to see the enclosures you build for them in-game. Will you be adding them to your parks?

I love the Asian theme for some of these designs! The white one looks like a snow leopard and the orange one looks like a tiger.

(Also, small qualm: the video refers to Yutyrannus as a tyrannosaurid. Yutyrannus was a tyrannosauroid, like the post says, but not a tyrannosaurid. Yutyrannus was a proceratosaurid. Tyrannosauroidea is a superfamily that contains the families Tyrannosauridae and Proceratosauridae.)

Man I am in love with that new Tiger coloration. Ah, still gotta wait two more days. So close though.

Btw, what is this DLC gonna cost? I pay my cards this week. Steam store page still says N/A.
Two of the dinosaur packs were $7.99 USD and another was $9.99 USD so I'm guessing it will be somewhere in-between there.

You know, there is a piece of concept art for Camp Cretaceous with a small Yutyrannus on it. It doesn’t mean it was definitively planned at one point at all, like I know some will assume without second thought, because it could be just the artists playing around or whatever with ideas or something like that.

But because of that, I’m thinking of maybe doing a “Camp Cretaceous section,” however I will do it, that will feature the Yutyrannus as a reference to that concept art. Maybe also mix them with Toro as a homage to another game I have?

What game are you referring to?
