Spontaneous rescue missions

Pilots could catch a rescue signal on their transponders sporadically (more probability if the pilots are close to systems at war). The pilots could choose to pursue the signal and save someone that ejected in an escape pod, or someone stranded because the thrusters or fsd were damaged.
This wouldn’t be a mission to get from the stations. This would just come up in pilots sensors when traveling.

This is what already happens in distress signals; though usually musicians that forget about fuel. War systems have damaged ships. Some of the degraded sources have you go pick up a black box.

It would be nice if the concept was expanded; by a lot.
