Squadrons feature for outlaws and pirates

Now, I know that Squadrons is not even in beta yet, but I watched the live stream, and I got to thinking these Squadrons seem a little clinically clean for those of us who live more on the fringes. Too structured for Anachists, too civilized for Pirates, if you will. So I'd like to suggest that we are able to create "Outlaw Squadons" (completely open to proposals for alternative, colourful nomenclature here). This mode would be an irreversable choice at the time the squadron is created (much like PP or PMF association), and would also be clearly indicated to any applicants. To be clear, then, this is an opt-in system, that would not impact normal squadrons in any way.

So what's differentiates Outlaw Squadrons?

Simple. Squadron Ranks are not only assigned by the leader, then are also earned by killing any (same) Squadron member with the next higher ranks. If you kill him (destroy ship), you switch ranks. This only works with the next higher rank, so the Squadron Leader can only be deposed in an et tu, brute? moment, offed by a top lieutentant. Such promotions would be indicated in the Squadron Comms feed, letting everyone know who is on the rise.

Of course, once you're off the bottom rung of the ladder, you need to watch you back. Threats, diplomacy, paying protection, forming sub factions would all be part of the intrigue of the whole thing.

Every large-ish clan/guide for any game I played ends ups with in-fighting and drama anyway, so why not just provide in game tools to channel this into a positive direction?

Why couldn't you simply have that as your internal method of assigning promotions? Do you really need an "in-game" mechanic to organise that?

It self evidently doesn't *need* an in-game mechanic, any more the organizing player groups for the last 4 years has needed Squadrons. The point is to have some diversity of squadron organizations that reflect different preferences and play styles.

(In this particular case, then sense of jeopardy from within about being a crime lord would be awesome)
