SRV cargo capacity

Are there different grade SRVs available with larger cargo bays? If so, I haven't found them. I found some salvage, but it was in really rough terrain and the closest my ship could land was about 1km away. The novelty of ferrying canisters back to my ship two at a time wore off pretty quickly.

Hmm, thanks. Does anyone know if collector limpets will pick up canisters off the ground? If I have to call my ship over anyway... I guess I can go try it myself, but figured I'd ask in case someone else already tried.

2 is definitely not enough. I want a heavier SRV that may be a bit slower but has more cargo and firepower. Less power sliding.

I just hope the bigger SRVs don't lock to X number of hangars. Like you need a class 4 hangar. Instead of 2 small SRVs, you can bring 1 of the bigger SRVs (using 2 slots). Because that would suck. Only my Python really has the room for the class 4 hangar.

I haven't tried but I would think they might have a hard time. From what I've seen, cargo canisters only register at very close range on your ship scanner. But I don't know if the limpets are tied to your ship's sensors.
Now what you can definitely do is scoop them up with your ship, on the ground by scrapping the surface.

I assumed I'd have to fly the ship over the canisters to launch the limpets, but I didn't realize I could just scoop them right off the ground -- that's even better. Thanks and +rep!

I don't think you can, I tried that and I couldn't select the canisters while they were on the planet's surface in my ship.

You have to be very close for them to register on your scanner. Found a stash of 8 gold, didn't want to bother going back and forth with the srv between the ships and the cannister, so I just scooped them from the ship. A lot of metal screeching ensued.

Last I checked I think they mentioned somewhere that new srv's would arrive not long after launch? so maybe 2.1? 2.2?
