Newcomer / Intro SRV forward Thrust problem

Hi there can anyone help me to map my controls for SRV thrust ? I mapped W/S for thrusting forward my ship, but for SRV i don't find this option, there is only vertical thrust but not for moving forward. Basically what I am asking I would like to map my W so i would drive for as long as I press W and if i stop pressing W the SRV would stop moving, just like any racing car game. If there is no option to do so, can anyone recommend me best SRV set up for keyboard/mouse ?
Highly appreciate.

Sounds very similar to my setup.
Under "Drive Throttle", set "Accelerate" to W and "Decelerate" to S.
I have "SRV Throttle Increments" set to Continuous - Dont know if this is relevant.

Under "Driving", have "Drive Assist Default" Off

SRV does not have multiple thrusters independent from the throttle like your ship does. Your ship has lateral and vertical thrusters in addition to the main throttle, hence why you can bind keys for left, right, up, down, forward, back thrust. SRV has ONLY throttle and a single thruster independent from the throttle, the vertical one.

For forward/reverse of the SRV you need to bind the desired keys to the throttle, which can be found under the "drive throttle" section of bindings, it sounds like you are only looking under Drive Miscellaneous, which is a different category in the bindings.

Thank you. Indeed Driving Assist is messing up proper driving. I just switched it off and it works well. Developers should mention this feature in training as I (and probably tons of other newbs) wasted a lot of time trying to figure this nonsense.

SRV's should have a control lay out like normal ships. Take the game space engineers as an example of this. whether your flying through space or driving, its nearly identical controls, it just makes things easier and more fun.

The trouble with that is that they are two different types of vehicle moving in different mediums.

I have at one time bound my SRV controls to be as near the same as my ship controls as possible, now I have them bound to be more intuitive for driving so they are quite different, to me this made driving easier and more fun but as with the ship configure the controls so it works for you.

I just fly my SRV like a helicopter. Vertical thrust pitch forward, away I go.
