Newcomer / Intro srv free camera

Hi, Ive just tried using the free camera in my srv. I was at a guardian site was lost and couldnt navigate about. So I thought I would use the free camera to help me. this is the first time Ive tried to use it. When going into camera suite, then activating the free camera , what happens is it just moves itself then says signal lost. My throttle is at 0 and I don't do anything , I cant seem to be able to stop this happening so I am unable to use it. So Ive had to give up with guardian blueprints at the moment . Until I can get the hang of the free camera. Any help would be appreciated.

You need to assign a key to "free camera" in your "camera suite" in options -> controls. Then, in the "free camera" settings, again in options -> controls, assign keys for up down left right, roll, yaw, pitch etc. Or assign your stick/mouse to move.

To clarify, there are two "camera" sets of options in controls: "camera suite" and "free camera".

Thank you for replies. I followed instructions from youtube on how to setup bindings for my x52 pro. In the camera suite, I have a key to enter freecamera. I also have keys for moving the camera. I agree it looks like it is my setup but Ive just checked and I cant see anything wrong. Think I will have to delete all the keys and start again, because the keys and joystick etc. to move the camera are at neutral so in theory, the camera shouldn't be moving, and especially uncontrollably moving quickly till signal is lost.

You need to move the observation point (usually moving the camera position vertically will allow you to orient yourself.) I'm not sure what causes this effect but i surmise that it is caused by the interposition of some obstacle(usually the ground) between the camera and the object to be viewed.Change the sight-line by maneouvering the camera until you get a clear sighting. It needs a little experimenting but is easy enough to get the hang of.Safe travels.

Could it be an issue with "Full range" vs. "Forward only" on the throttle? For driving (and flying) I use a "Forward only" setting for my HOTAS throttle (pressing a "Reverse" button when I want reverse thrust. However, in things like the galaxy map and camera suite it's possible to bind the throttle control for map or camera zoom using a "Full range" binding (which you may find more natural). However, you then need to remember that, if your throttle control is pulled right back for neutral driving, when you switch to these other modes that might be full reverse on the zoom control in which case you need to move the throttle to the mid-way position.

yes I've just tried it goes towards the ship then down it doesn't lose signal but keeps on moving every way. I can see now why in a srv i lose signal because it goes in the ground

I think I've found it in throttle axis I needed to create a deadzone almost 50% i haven't tried srv yet but if it works I will try again for guardian blueprints thank you all for your help
