SRV gets jammed trying to get in or out of my beloved Diamondback Scout. Help!

Everyone knows the Diamondback Scout is the best spaceship in the galaxy (those who disagree hate freedom and coolness).

Anyway, for a while now, there has been a problem using the SRV with this beautiful ship. Namely, the SRV gets stuck under the DBS, or gets blocked from the DBS, because the clearance is too low. I think the problem is the landing gear sinks too deep into the surface.

I searched the Issue Tracker, and there was another report submitted for the exact same issue, and it was marked "expired".

Please fix this issue so I can continue to roll around in my SRV with my beautiful locks flowing in the low atmosphere. I don't want to use my Phantom, even though that is also a cool ship.

My issue is here: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/50896

Try dismissing the ship, moving somewhere else and recalling it. It's a fairly common bug with some ships, I get it in my Cobra MkIII sometimes, been that way for years.

The DBS is a great ship...very underrated, the best of the 2M x 2S fighters.

As Riverside said...dismiss ship and find a better landing spot. I had the same issue with the DBS and other smaller ships.

Yeah, that's what I do. I'm hoping (like a madman) that maybe Frontier jacks the ship up a foot.

I have never thought of doing that. And I won’t, because I’d rather remove my own liver with a fork than do such a Rube Goldberg maneuver. But that’s ED for you.
Honestly, there's no accounting for terrain AND the auto land function...sometimes in life we need to manually override automated machinery too...

usually I get out of the SRV, get in my ship, land it myself and then it works, usually...
Yeah, that's been a plan B of mine, too.

Maybe they can create a "cylinder portal" for the SRV, like they do for on foot, because slamming and K-turning my way in and out of the DBS sort of blows.

I don't recall* ever having issues getting out, only getting back in.

* recalling long lost memories is NOT one of my strong points...

Reminds me of the time I scarpered from settlement guards in my SRV, tried to recall my ship, and had a rather irritating issue.

I was in a huge crater with smooth but gently-sloping terrain, with occasional piles of rocks. The landing algorithm picked horizontal terrain over smooth terrain, causing it to perch atop the rock piles, where the topmost rock made it impossible to get the SRV underneath. Moving away from a rockpile caused it to pick another rockpile. I had to get out of the SRV and board on foot.

I think something got screwed up with Odyssey because I never had this problem with the DBS in Horizons. I would say that now 9 out of 10 times I am unable to pull straight out from my ship without getting the turret stuck on the underside of the ship. The way I get around it is to pull out to the sides, which has higher clearance. You need to put the the SRV in reverse and do a type of reverse 3-point turn until you snake out from the side. And when you return, you need to enter from the side as well. In some situations, that won't even work and you will be forced to dismiss your ship to be able to move at all!

There have been multiple reports on the issue tracker but I think they have all expired without Frontier taking note. One thing is clear: the DBS needs about a foot extra clearance for this annoying issue to go away.

Yup, I do the K turn move too.

And I agree, I think this is an Odyssey issue. The DBS is a great ship for landings because of its very small foot print, so this is a bummer about the SRV.

So, I tried to land in my DBS and deploy the SRV on the same planet in both Odyssey and Horizons. Clearly this is an Odyssey issue, as I suspected. I don't play Horizons too much anymore (not buggy enough for my taste), so I had to double check.

Odyssey.....
