SRV multi crew in beyond ?

Hi everyone,
2.4 is now out since couple weeks
We now have some news about the beyond season, new ships, news features, improved graphics, core game improvements,
All that stuff sounds very great
really!
But I was hoping to hear about one little but very important detail...
Multi crew support for S.R.V's
So I don't know if frontier is planning to implement that, but it would be nice to get some news about that in case they do.
So please frontier, what is going with that?
Is that coming at some point?
Can we expect to have that in 2017? or 2018?

It would be fabulous if it was. Multi-Crew needs redevelopment from the ground up and this would be an excellent addition if functional.

There has been a big drive by the Design Team to glean feedback on Crime and Punishment the last couple of weeks. We know Engineers is next, and hints Powerplay will be after that. Braben has said publically "if you use Multi-Crew, we'll look at it", which most consider flawed logic as Multi-Crew is currently in such a borked or useless state, that is why no one really uses it regularly. As a result, I'd be amazed if Multi-Crew wasn't on the menu sometime down the road, for Design Team engagement.

Totally depends what road we end up on is the thing. In either case I doubt it will be first half of 2018.

Braben said " .... " Source

The reason I mention this is whole stowing Aboard the same space ship thing that Braben talked about in the dev diaries.

That can ONLY work once you worked out the kinks of the networking issues of players being onboard the same vessel.

And there is no point of letting people occupy the ship if they have nothing do

Would be great to invite your buddy for a drive in the SRV.. Still hoping it will be a part of the game in the near future.
For now we only can drive both with a separate SRV.

Not sure if it was DB or Sandro, but that nonsensical statement really exist. Don't ask me where though.

The SRV does have two seats and a turret, so it is a valid candidate for Multi-pew.

I'd still like to see NPC SRV's in operation as well.

Yeah... the ability to drop your friend out in an SRV is a massive must for the feature.

It makes the cool planetary structures a viable thing to visit as a crew, which it currently just aint.

If I could have brought my friends to the alien structures in my ship, and they just had to SRV around, they would possibly still be playing, and buying paint packs.

That'd be great, but they need to reprogram the way the instancing works with SRVs for multicrew. Frontier didn't announce anything for multicrew.

I still think NPC multicrew would make the game a lot more fun, cause many people don't have time to do multicrew. So the vacant chair should be filled by an NPC pilot if no player is available. It also needs an option to resurrect a pilot after a crash.

I'd love to have land and drop off sev with buddy in, or in the bigger ships launch yourself And mate.

But for people who think, why don't FD simply ..... Okay time to be a developer time which one of these do you spend time and effort on to maximize a Successful walking around on ship gameplay with other players.
And which ones do you group together to solve similar issues / have most efficient cross over code.

Gameplay to walk around ships alone

Gameplay to walk around ships
networked

Art assets to walk around ships

Network code for people to be on ships together

Gameplay for gunner (network)
Gameplay for engineer (network)
Gameplay for ship launch fighter (single player)
Gameplay for ship launch fighter (network)
Single player careers
Mining
Exploration
Trading
Bounty hunting

Multi crew careers
Mining
Trading
exploration

- oh and the community want more complex content for the careers since they rather stick to a couple of careers that suite them than try to learn those other skill trees.

I mean, if they never intended to do anything remotely useful with multicrew one has to ask why it even got released in the first place. Tiny "rewards", nerfed weapons which literally cost millions in most cases, a confusing 3rd person camera, no multi srv, no real interesting way to mine...and on it goes.

That the "we'll work on it if more people use it" quote exists when the thing was released in such a poor state that people avoid it by default blows my mind.

Right next to the first seat.
Unless that's a really wide bench seat, you know for the You-Need-to-Buy-A-Second-Ticket sized commanders.

I don't see it...

There is a two bay SRV Module for ships. It's about piloting your Asp or Anaconda or Python etc with your mate in the co-pilot seat and then you both getting into your own SRV when you "get there".

Being able to eject your mate from 2km up in an srv would also be fun.

There is a four SRV bay as well, and it would be great if Multi-crew was expanded to support four players, and allow all four players to get into their own SRVs (right now the host/pilot can't leave his ship, but both crew members can fly his SLFs.)

Also, I would like some kind of revenue sharing implemented as currently only combat pays anything.

I know FDev has concerns that crew members could get rich by just riding along (which my NPC pilots do currently.)

BUT if FDev allowed the "crew" to get paid only if they took on "roles" exclusively, like navigation (only he could access maps, plot routes) or science officer (only he could use discovery, data, and surface scanners) or engineering (only he could distribute power, use synths, operate cargo scoop, use collection and repair limpets, etc) then it would make sense to let them each get paid a percentage for their work.

And that would also make multi-crew worth playing outside of combat imho.
