SRV Uncontrollable Acceleration

Lets play the game how you like it. Not how YOU like it
Chill, no need to get upset about it. SRV driving just is better with Drive Assist Off, it's very much worth the tiny amount of time getting used to it, even with mouse and keyboard.

You like beating a dead horse?
No it is not better. Even if that was the case. The game mechanic is broken. That is what matters.

It's up to you, persist in error all you want. I'm not saying Drive Assist is good, it's not. That's why I turn it off and happily drive without any of the problems that some seem happier to complain about than just fix very easily. But that's people, eh?

I have also expereinced this sudden speeding up for no reason while using drive-assist... I use the 10% incremental speed option to better control my srv speed, but still find it speeding up for no reason at all. The way I deal with this bug is to click once on Drive-assist off key once, and because the srv is set to drive-assist-on it automatically, it then activates the drive-assist on straight away and this, for me at aleast, resets this bug for a while. No need to log off then back in again.

The point f the the thread is regarding a feature that did work, and now it doesn't. There is a specific bug that is easily identified. Accepting a broken software feature because you choose not to use it primarily because it does not work properly because the developer does not fix it is quite a circular argument.

Driving the SRV is a basic aspect of the game. It is required for several important aspects of the game. If the solution is to a) don't use drive assist and b) don't use the mouse scroll wheel for throttle -> then these options should be removed from the game.

Fair enough. I found DA to be a bit of an abomination so I've always thought it was a rather pointless option in this situation. Is it just about the mouse-wheel or am I missing something about the feature that works better than DA-off?

I came across SRV issues since playing in Odyssey as well.
I thought I was dealing with some control issues on my end, but it seems that it's some sort of bug.
I noticed the random, uncontrollable speed up, but also if I was using DA I noticed a delay when I up the speed a tick or so. If I start at 0 and up-tick slightly, there's a 3 sec or so delay before the SRV actually kicks in and goes forward. That wasn't a thing for me before playing Odyssey.
There's definitely some issue there, and I know it doesn't fix the problem for you, but I would recommend using something other than the mouse wheel for accel/deceleration.
I use my mouse side-buttons and it feels controllable enough, that is until that random speed up starts happening.

Same bug here. It is annoying to say the least when collecting minerals and other things.
I will give a try to wasd (well szqd) and FA off.

I am going to try that drive assist [OFF] thingy.
Because I just went through this. and I am a new player. And this infuriates me every time it happens.
One tiny Press and ZOOOOOOOM, off like a bat out of hell at 1000000 miles per hour.
And when trying to stop it, it goes into reverse ON ITS OWN, and ZOOOOOOOM 1000000 miles per hour again. SMH.

It's broken and it's annoying. I used to enjoy driving SRVs and collecting material.
The handling of the SRV is like a potato.
In addition, there is the bug with the disappearing materials.

Drive Assistance off is solving the issue for me. Slow moves, high precision.
Then turning it on and off, it is one button on my joystick so easy to manage.
(same button as when in space btw).

Personally, I disable drive assist when my srv becomes uncontrollable. This stops my srv and then I re-engaged drive assist and continue at a lower speed.
One must consider gravity and terrain when using drive assist. For me, drive assist works well once one knows it's limits.
It's hazardous out there.
