Staff management is very laborsome.

I'm on PC and the staff management system is just awful. Its like pulling teeth trying to assign mechanics to rides. Why would the game not bring you back to the staff screen? It makes no sense at all. It like Frontier didn't have anyone in there building play the game. Not to mention the mechanic do their job 50 maybe 50 percent of the time. They must be in a really good union cause they don't do anything. The Janitor are the same way you could put 50 of them on the map and toilets and trash cans don't get cleaned and zones don't help. Seems like it can be an easy fix but should've never made it to release.

P.S with that and the other bugs with the guest not wanting to queue because its to long when the wait in under 5 mins or guest claiming custom built rides are to expensive even you take it below a dollar I am still having fun but these issues need to fixed.

I agree, managing staff is a huge pain in the butt right now. The menu system for setting up zones isn't very intuitive. There are WAY too many clicks to go into a staff member and adjust what zone they are going to work in. Plus there is no easy way from the staff summary screen to see which staff are assigned to which zone. I don't even want to think about managing ride attendants to keep rides staffed for breaks. Even with something small like a dozen rides, that's way too much to manage with the menus that you're given.

One of the problems that I think I'm seeing is that your staff members will go OUT of their zones when they go on breaks. Even though I have employee break rooms in every zone, I think instead of going to the one IN their zone, they're walking all the way across the park to go into a different one. Then they have to walk ALL the way back. Crowded paths slow them down. Then this results in rides that break down and paths covered in litter because your mechanics and janitors are just walking all over the place. I'm not positive if this is a contributing cause, I have to do more observation.

The menu for staff management needs a complete overhaul though. As it stands now, I'd turn the whole feature off if I had a choice.

Hey there,

I have been playing in my park for a while. Now I decided to add some staff zones. Placing new zones is very easy. However, assigning the staffs to the zones is a clicking nightmare! You have to click on every single staff member, go to the personal plan and add the zone by another 3 clicks through windows that open.
There must be an easier way! Please add the zones directly to the staff screen.

assigning workzones is way to much clicks, but thats the entire game that ask for to many clicks to get a job done on pc.

I decided, to not use the work zones anymore! There are too many clicks and too little overview which member is assigned to which zone.
Also, let us delete the zone markings with a right click. Like in Cities: skylines or Foundation. ESC Button works very well for me to close the windows, don't need the right click to close the windows.

I agree, that staff needs a rework. It really feels like i do a schedule in an older company who uses Excel for staffing, but without the pros of Excel, so more like I am doing a decent staffing on actual paper. It feels like bad chore you got assigned at your workplace and you think which collagues still own you a favor, so you could trade in that assignment.
This is not how a game should feel.

Let us pick the Staff with Crtl+Click assign them to a clear zone and be done with it, maybe we need to make changes, when necessary, but right now, i prefer to hire 6 vendors more, just so i don't get bothered with the staffing table.

Also let mechanics and Janitors be more proactive: Let the mechanics renew badges on their own and not just when they are expired (nearly expired), for example i saw a mechanic looking for work, while 3 rides had less than 10 minutes on their badge. Of course they run out on nearly the same time and then hell breaks loose, here we need a way to manage things better or let mechanics be more intelligent.

Janitors are sometimes the same: they just walk by a toilet, that is in decent condition but will degrade soon, let them clean the toilet and not magically see the drop of trash in the other end of the park. Janitor managment was an annoying staple in the RCT/PC series, but having a clean park was a rewarding feature. Right now i am just spamming them instead of using them intelligent.

The mechanics don't do there jobs in time then its get overdue and the ride takes a lot of damage in seconds. i spend more time to keep up the ride then im playing and can not enjoy the game that way. Just make it that you can assign a mechanic to 3 or 4 rides directly an that they do there job and done and you don't have to nothing anymore. The schedule was a nice idea on paper in reality its horrible. Make the game enjoyable again please i like to play the storyline. But this ruining my experience totally in the way i just shut the game down out of frustration.

Hilarious comparison and its so accurate. It take you away from your main job... expanding and creating the park.

The crazy part is you can assign a mechanic to only renew badges and they still don't get to the ride in time! Plus I've had it set up to where rides are basically covered every hour of the day and the still expire, degrade, breakdown, and eventually I have to pay to repair them. If they expect you to have "specialists" in terms of mechanics(this applies to janitors as well) who only renew badges and ones that only upkeep the park facilities ect. The overhead to run the park makes it very hard to earn money at decent rate without maxing out the speed of the game.

The mechanic thing is actually explained in the patch notes for the first update:

It seems rides call the mechanic (from a game design point it makes sense), but the call is late. So i hope THIS gets fixed on the first.

I saw and what irks me (as a licensed aviation mechanic) is that concept is just unacceptable from a real world perspective. Imagine if a certification expired on a component on an aircraft and it started to degrade because someone didn't call me say it was?(mechanics who work on roller coaster or anything that uses hydraulic power/launch hold a very similar license) I would be fired for negligence and could loose my license... unfortunately(and I could just be a snob) for frontier the simulation games category has evolved to the point where that just cant happen.

I will say I 100 percent agree it makes it does make sense in a game design perspective and to my simulation game statement earlier I know it is not intend to be real world realistic and is arcady in nature. Still from a management stance its just annoying.

There needs to be multiselect for the schedule, having to copy and paste every single hour and having a popup that takes 2 seconds to go away is insane that they thought this was ok to put in the game.
