Stamina/energy for guests

Since my last post is stuck in moderator approval limbo, I'll try posting my idea one more time.

Looking at the roadside benches in RCT3 made me wonder if they can be given a purpose other than just being decorations, like trash cans. After giving it some further pondering, I thought perhaps a stamina or energy system would fill the gap.

So here's the basic concept, a guest would enter the park with a full stamina bar. As time passes his stamina gradually drains(not very fast though) , but if he's walking his stamina will go down considerably faster. (another thought: maybe if a guest can't find a bathroom his stamina would drain very rapidly? But I personally think having guests doing their business on the ground and make you clean their droppings up would be a better solution if they can't find a bathroom)

When a guest's stamina is too low he will walk slower, ride fewer rides and maybe have a lower tolerance for intense rides, and when his stamina is completely drained he will leave the park.

Sitting on benches would refill the guest's stamina(albeit slowly), food and drinks would give an immediate stamina boost(amount depends on the type of food). A guest riding a transport ride would not lose stamina.

One might think this system may be overly realistic and convoluted, but this particular bit of realism actually contributes to making a challenging, believable but also, fun gameplay. In RCT3 there's not much point in building transport rides other than connecting some cut off areas and make your guests circulate faster. With the stamina system in place, transport rides and roadside benches now have a greater purpose. The stamina system also encourages players to plan their paths more efficiently and place shops/attractions more strategically. All in all, it would be a very nifty mechanism that would add more depth to the planet coaster experience.

I agree! The more depth, the better. In RCT3, benches were essential for calming the guests stomachs after a particularly thrilling ride.

Wait the benches aren't just decorations in RCT 3?

This is a great idea and would just add more to the depth and realism that Frontier are trying to achieve. We already saw that peeps do get tired, so maybe that was a hint that this will be a feature in the game.

This thread makes me tired just thinking about it [squeeeeee] No really it's a great idea, I think it will just be a matter of with so many ideas Frontier's going to have to prioritize what goes in and at what time. After all our computers are only so fast.

They had that effect since RCT1 ;) So not exactly new. Although the First Aid Post curing serious stomach problems after riding your coasters is new... and makes you think how harmfull your coasters actually are when people go to a FIRST AID post.

EDIT: I actually don't know if there was something like a first aid post in RCT2 since I barely touched that game. I do remember having some sort of ATM building which I also think would be a good thing to have around.

Haha, no kidding. It's a shame you never played RCT2, it was great. Damnit, I'm going to go reinstall now.

RCT2 had a First Aid Room. :)

But they weren't used that much as guest would be holding their mouths/stomachs and walk right by them and puke just a few feet away. Worse in RCT3. It looked like Non Sick guests were using them Way more than the Sick ones. I tried putting First-Aids Right next to the Ride Exits, just a few Grids away and right next to the restrooms to make a "Poop & Puke" Shed, they would walk right by them and Puke just a few grid sections away. Even tried putting Drink Stalls near the Ride Exits to help control the Puking.

Benches got used by quests eating if the benches were close enough to the stalls, even in RCT3 but not as much. Most of the time, the quests would just Stand in front of benches waiting for their group. In RCT1-2 Guest would/did/do use them to Sit if they were/are tiered. Even seen them Break after they stood up or they were sitting on a broken one to start with.

I haven't played RCT2 much, most hours went into RCT1 for me. I do know that guests sad down on benches if they were nauseous. I don't know about RCT3 either, to be honest.

Would like to see nauseous guests in Planet Coaster :)

Yep, I find it far more effective to just hire a few janitors to patrol the ride exits in RCT 3

Perhaps we need more guest sicknesses to justify the need of a first aid room in PC

The first aid rooms were used much when I plopped one very close on the exit to the "worst" coaster. it has to be within 1-3 tiles and no benches on the path leading to the first aid (of course you can put benches *after* the first aid to catch the guests not wanting to use the first aid) and no intersections either. Then it will be heavily used.

To add to the point about transport rides, we need some way to designate where they're going and what things guests would be using the transport to get to.
For instance, in RCT3 I had (and still have) a park which is set on an island surrounded by water. It's meant to be like a Caribbean island surrounded by ocean.

To get there, guests need to take a monorail. Obviously they need one to get back as well, but the issue was that guests in RCT3 didn't understand the concept of a ride that only took them to the exit of the park - I had to redesign the monorail countless times because guests who had just entered the park would then immediately head for the exit monorail and ride that back to the park entrance because it was the nearest next ride for them. Hopefully this is something that won't happen in Planet Coaster, and guests will only use the transport system to get around the park, or just to travel the entire way around as some people do in real life.

Sorry for the slightly off topic post, I just wanted to discuss this because it was mentioned.
