Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

The hangars were/are free with ship purchases...you buy a ship, you get a complementary hangar to stick it in. Quality, size etc was tied to the perceived value of the ship. Lower tech and rather tatty industrial hangars were for the Cutty Blacks etc...or that was the theory at least. I haven't been in any of my hangars since the hangar module back in 2015...they don't work and never have since then :)
I stand corrected, though it was possible to buy hangar upgrades without buying another ship

If I remember rightly, it was in the original plan. You could upgrade your hangar by purchasing further hangar space for additional ships or cosmetic looks and function during the initial offering of SC which was the hangar module...long before the PU was a thing. Ci¬G kinda ditched the whole idea after the release of the PU and supplied an individual hangar with each ship purchase as they still do...in the case they ever revisited the original idea I suppose. As they are, the hangars are a totally pointless addition, complementary or not.

I should have added that the initial idea of a single, upgradeable hangar wouldn't in any way work these days. Not with hundreds of whales owning entire fleets of bling barges. Can you imagine the size of a hangar required for a Legatus Navium backer with every ship Ci¬G have ever chucked out the door, jpeg or flyable? They'd need a small moon to park them all on, never mind a hangar. Even my miniscule and sad little fleet would stretch the idea of a single hangar to being ridiculous

Something like Hurston?
Even though all the moons are small at 1:6th scale when compared to Elite's...they're still plenty big enough if you're walking or flying around them...but there still isn't enough hangars at any of the main spaceports to park that many ships in...not even my lot

Hey, you got something here! "$15000 - your own inflatable mini-moon to glorify your fleet*
*reserved to legatus level commando, air pump sold separately at an unknown future date"

Found new way to make good amount of credits in a relatively short time, illegal security monitor disabling missions! 20 000 aUEC/mission and can be done with Aurora. In those missions you need to scan mission area and find three illegal monitors and destroy them within the time limit.

I tried out the new fangled commodity tracker in Mobiglas by shifting fireworks to Microtech for the fleet week event...or at least I tried to. Unfortunately, neither of the Hercs were recognised at the trade terminal so I couldn't load up...had to dig the Cat out of mothballs to try the commodities do-dah in the end :cautious:

Could you not load up the Cat and then get a trolley to move all the boxes to the Herc? Emergent gameplay. And realistic, I spent most of my Saturdays as a child pushing a trolley around some giant warehouse with seemingly no end in sight...

But you can buy the ships in game!!*

* New ships can be bought in game in about six months. Must grind through a buggy alpha to get it. You'll lose the ship when they eventually do a reset
Not these ones you can't...after a patch or 2 like you mentioned... 3.15 maybe. Most folk getting one of the Hercs will be as zero cash transactions via store credit through melting something else or relatively few dollarino CCU's from the likes of an existing Caterpillar. I seriously doubt that new buyers will be looking at spending that much for a buy in. That's not been my experience of SC newbies anyway :)

You don't have to hit huge levels of grinding to buy ships in game, just play it as you go unless you're a compulsive min-maxer. You just work a little bit at a time towards the ship you want...same as Elite but with more bugs :D
