Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

So what's the learning curve in this game? Can I learn to fly in an hour, or will it take days before I can do anything exciting? I'll probably just K&M it at the beginning.

Its easy.
Mouse for X-Y and Z axis, W to accelerate, S Backwards, A and D to yaw, Q and E to role, X to break, Shift for Boost.

C puts you in cruse mode, in cruse mode use the mouse wheel to increase or decrease your cursing speed. V to decouple thrusters.

F2 brings up your System map, scroll wheel to zoom in and out, B spools your QT drive, lighn up with your Star Map selected destination, hold B to engage the jump.

What's the key to bring up the magic wrist menu? IIRC, everything is controlled, monitored, and selected from here?

Ship interiors, EVA, ecte.... :)

Not the best time for that flex ;)

People walking down ramps causes ships to explode and we don't know why.

Just watch the second one, its only 10 minutes. :)

No real bugs, the game isn't just bugs.

Yeah, but watching machinima is pretty trite. Seen way too much of it in relation to SC over the years. People love to do it to show off how "great" SC is. Rexshilla was notorious for it. It doesn't show off anything like actual gameplay that most players will experience. Its all fake as hell.

And the bugs are a lot more funny to watch. ;)

The first video is made like a mini movie.

The second is purely recorded gameplay, other than the fact that they edited, they are not limier streamed gameplay, nothing else about them is faked. its as you see it.

This is a trailer for a Cinematic we had been making, sadly the the main guy changed employment and can't finish the project, in fact he's disappeared now.

All of the camera work, all of the facial animation, everything use see other that one or two minor post effects like the coffee pouring in to the mug was done using the in game tools, it was done using the game.

Nothing about any of this is faked.

You can use the ship MFDs to call ATC, depending on the ship it may already be on one of them, a lot of them don't have that option displayed, hold F and look at the MFD to interact with it, you can change what system / information is displayed on any MFD but it doesn't persist.

Machinima doesn’t tell you anything about actual gameplay though (and it usually imagines scenarios which don’t exist in the game). That’s Agony’s point.

The assets, animations and lighting aren’t faked, for sure. But it’s still not the game. It’s a fake scenario, created using game assets.

Machinima like this, which tells a story about the actual gameplay experience, is probably more representative in that sense ;)

That's ###### brilliant... and it is a cinematic. The second video i posted is actual game play, yes its edited for Youtube but that doesn't change what it is. The trouble is if one was to categorise that as "faking it" then every bit of gameplay footage of any game that's uploaded to youtube that's had some editing to cut out the less interesting bits is faking it, then nothing represents any game, its all fake, is that what we are saying?

Did you watch the second video?
