Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

SHip Interiors, Eva, Planets, Missions, Stations Interiros, a Bunch of Ships and vehicles and Guns and Armors, Space Combat, Ground Combat - More than Elite has basically, but yea, lets downplay all that cause it's Alpha, and it's never going to release... cause you need CR to personally deliver you a copy of SC to your door step.
Buy an Idris already.

Whoa, a game has missions and guns. Oh, excuse me, Missions and Guns :) Never been done before.

Elite doesn't have Vechiles other than one SRV, Eva, Ship Interiors - Why doesn't a relased version has that? Are we sure it's released? Maybe it's still in Beta or Alpha?

Please excuse me, but you being faster than spellcheck makes it so funny I am unable to formulate a serious answer. This and other things, but mostly this. Have some coffee :coffee: and cool down.

ED doesn't have ship interiors yet! - BAD!

SC doesn't have more than one system yet! - ITS ALPHA!

Its always the same.

Both games have been in development for almost the same amount of time (SC a bit longer). SC has a way higher budget and way more employees. And yet SC gets excused for everything it is missing while ED gets panned for what it is missing.

Perhaps FD should just slap an alpha label on everything, call everything Tier 0, and people can then start defending ED for what is wrong with it.
You don't seem to understand what have changed since EDO. It's not the same.

ED doesn't have ship interiors and FDEV haven't started working on it and is unable to confirm them in a short or long term - BAD!
SC doesn't have more than one system yet and actively working on it since several years, showing proof of work - ITS ALPHA!

See the new trend here ?
Even if you slap a alpha tag on ED, it's of no use if FDEV don't talk about the future of it's alpha. Alpha is for games in heavy development. EDO was promising before release (you can read again all the "EDO will be the SC's killer" posts). In reality it was underdelivering and helped to see in a better light what SC had already done in the alpha. And now DB is mute because he doesn't want to confirm that no other big development will be made for ED.What do you think about the last dev talk stream ? there is none, it has been cancelled. They are on full "damage control" state.

Your "ED doesn't have ship interiors yet" is what is hurting ED now. Because DB doesn't want to make an official statement on this "yet" and there is only one logical reason why he doesn't do it and a lot of ED players have deeply understood it. If he says officialy that interiors will never be ingame, he will kill instantly it's community. If interiors were planned, he would just have to announce it and the *..*show we see now would never have appeared

Some people don’t seem to mind to be lied to. Some of those even pay good money for it and can wait for over almost a decade, only to end up with a pale shadow of what they paid for in the best case. With a few exceptions, I just prefer to consider a purchase mostly when the vendor shows the goods and what you see is what you get.

One thing I see from ED, but only because I dont go into SC forums maybe, is the confusion thing.
In SC, they have ships you can get in and out of. Always have, but in the early years, was really rough and entertaining, but they had that.
Now, those transitions are better, and it's something they just have.
In ED, when it was suggested we may get legs, the whole community splits up and half say they love not being able to walk around, because they love being constrained "I didnt buy a space game to walk around!" and the like. Then EDO is released, and those same people are like "I want ship interiors so I can walk inside my ship....hmm gonna go see SC..."

What happened there? If players dont want to walk around, just dont. Noone's holding a gun there. But then when EDO releases and there's legs, then they say "where the interiors?" which were never even mentioned as being included. We get it, you dont want to get up. Ok, dont hit the f*cking button then or keep playing Horizons. But now that it leads to everyone wanting interiors, then you did always want to walk around. If it means going to SC to try walking around, then dont claim you only want to sit in your chair in ED.

Imagine if SC started with being in their seat only, with the prospect of getting up only a possibility. Would they have gone through a similar split, filled with all that nonsense and confusion? Possibly! They never even gave that a try.

Just wait to see the effect of the next CIG's lies on the ED community : volumetric clouds and missile/radar operator mode

A lost opportunity, about Strategic PvP. With 1:1 galaxy, it would have been really fun. With Elite it's a done deal. You know they will never add it, with other games in development, there is hope that they might. Because development phase is were hope lives.
I remember when they were talking about Thargoids - and thinking how awesome it would be to experience a live System Invasion. Crashed dreams.

Ok, how about we now get back to Store Citizen?

No, it has different things. We can do a whole big list of things ED has that SC doesn't, a much bigger list in fact.

Quite funny considering FD have less devs and have spent way less money.

Then there is NMS, which has arguably more than both with even less devs.

However, such comparisons are rarely productive, since the faithful will start saying that they don't care for the things that ED has while only SC delivers what they want.

I don't follow SC much, so i don't know how much they delivered on their Early Promisses.
Star Citizen on the other hand already has Ship Interiors and even Eva.

They would have been further along, personally I think FD are taking the correct dev path despite their current troubles. They have a robust fps that can be added to where as CG have a barely functional fps that shows no signs of improvement.

I don't follow SC much, so i don't know how much they delivered on their Early Promisses. But Elite always had Ship Interiors on a Road Map. It was never a question of what players wanted or not. It was part of a package players backed 7 or was it 8 years ago? When CM said " Ship Interiors don't have gameplay - so why we aren't doing them " - a lot of people that backed this game felt betrayed by those words.

Star Citizen on the other hand already has Ship Interiors and even Eva.
So you're saying you don't know what you're talking about but talk about it anyway because some other game terribly wronged you.

I think you miss my point entirely.

I'm not saying FD should slap an alpha tag on ED. Maybe they should have left it in testing longer. But that ship has sailed.

What hurts Odyssey are various issues, but it could have been a good update without ship interiors.

However, we have many threads on this forum to discuss the issues with Odyssey and whether FD should have put work into interiors instead of other things.

My point is that SC, despite having a much bigger budget, more employees, and more time, still hides behind the alpha label (because there is no way it could be released at the moment), while ED can be criticized without someone crying ITS ALPHA.

Let's do a little mind game here. Let's pretend that SC was released today. What would you be saying in response to criticisms about the game? Only 1 system? Limited gameplay loops? Many ships that were already sold not actually developed? Pets?!!!! No pets! They promised pets!!!

You could bang on and on and on about "look, ship interiors" but it wouldn't make a whit of difference to those complaining about the many other things that are missing... and of course, there is performance and bugs, two things that Odyssey is copping a lot of flack for.

I was looking a for a serious asnwer too, but instead we got a Developers Update 1, and lots of bugs in Update 5, which haven't been addressed in their Weekly Schedual. Than we got our tubers influenced us with their Elite depression by switching to SC. And here we are looking at SC. The game that people were rediculing and making fun of for years, suddenly better than Odyssey. Yep just like that jumped ahead of the curve.

So yea, keep telling me how SC is bad, maybe it will cure my depression. 🍩
But make it more convincing than before.
To be completely serious, if some news (or lack thereof) about a video game has such a serious impact on your mood, I would approach it from a different direction. Take a break from all of this, play something different, think what the real issue is. And don't argue in a Star Citizen thread about Elite Dangerous. Doing so can only be inflammatory to your mental wellbeing.
