Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Oh bless his cotton socks…

He seems to have gone for the $85 Titan alpha package. Very thrifty.

What will it be like when the stuff roadmapped for 2017 arrives? That is a very fine question.

We know you’ll do that Ant. So we’re just here to balance you out ;)

By pointing out that the 30K reduction has been overshadowed by the terrible state of the desynch. And with trade still spanked by a spread of issues (not least being the continued existence of 30ks), most of the main professions are still rendered unsatisfactory or flat out broken by the state of the networking.

Or that you’ve just summed up the bulk of the additions for the last year there, which are mainly incredibly slight (for a team of 700+), despite far more being promised. (The cull of 75% of the proposed core tech and 60% of the proposed gameplay features from 3.14 being a good recent example). As such you’ve bulked the list out with several things that aren’t even in the game yet…

Somehow your 'positives only' take on SC doesn’t tell the full story ;)

I'm a VR player as well, and that's part of the reason I'm putting more time on SC

I'm confused. Why would someone who is a VR player put more time into SC which doesn't support VR?

And with the camera suite in EDO, you can actually get a VR experience without resorting to vorpx.... if you want VR, ED is still the better choice, although as i understand it, X4 has it properly done?

And hey, I know Aunt here doesn't play SC, but I do -- every single patch. But I do enjoy you waving away my personal experience with the game as somehow being invalid.

Not quite true. I've tried 3 free flies and every one was a disaster. But of course, its my fault for not installing it on a SSD... no, wait, sorry, i've been brainwashed. Because my graphics card isn't up to snuff.

You do have to wonder about a game developer (or developers) that are developing for current gen graphics cards though at a time when graphics card prices are insane.

If you want your game to be popular and rake in the megabucks, i feel the thing you should be doing is making sure your game runs well on last gen graphics cards.

My contrat come to an end at Pyro release and server meshing :p
This forum will be far less fun after the 4.0 release...

You're much more fun when you don't take things so seriously.

Although you couldn't resist a prediction there could you? You know we've been waiting for 4.0 since around 2017?

And besides, its CIG. There's still going to be plenty to laugh at regardless. :D

Something I wasn't aware it was possible, don't know if it's new. You can put all scrap metals from derelict missions in your cargo and transport them. I though they were only local objects with no real existence but in fact they are all real entities managed by the server. For now, it's of no use to collect them, you can't sell them. Technically, there is enough here to make a T0 salvage mechanism if CIG choose the simplest way to do it. It just lack the possibility to sell the scrap on the cargo's grid at a terminal, which exist already for boxes you find in derelict.

Superb. You see, that's how you do it!

I've read your reponse about the scammy question. But it lacks the part about the real progress because :

A : you don't want to give positive infos about SC, only the negative one because your opinion on the game is biased
or
B : as you don't play the game, you don't really know if the alpha has progressed or not, therefore your opinion on the game is biased

I think you borked the quote, but it seems like your reply is aimed at me, so please forgive me if i reply like it was.

A: Excuse me, but i think you'll find that to be false. Read my recent comments. I am biased, i'll agree. Are you claiming you're not biased?

B: But i have played the game. 3 free flys. The last one being this year. However, i will admit that my "experience" was hindered by my poor old graphics card (see my recent post bemoaning devs who are developing for current gen hardware) but that in no way invalidates my criticisms of things like how long it takes to navigate stations or being unable to fly off because i clipped into the ceiling and was unable to unclip. Maybe the former is a subjective opinion and others might feel differently, and that's fair enough, but clipping into the ceiling and getting stuck i think is a fair reason for ending my testing (when it took me almost an hour to get to that point). I've got plenty of other games to play. The gaming world is much bigger than SC and ED. ;)

It's more "EDO is broken, where can I go ? I will try SC just to see -hours later- It is not as bad as what some says about it on the ED forum, some bugs but playable -hours later- In fact it is pretty enjoyable"
Where is the nonsense exactly ? Have you seen the videos of CMDR Kate, she lost her mind ?
No, as Cotic was suggesting some of the "I've left ED" posts on youtube are a little dodgy. That real players are leaving I'm sure is true, like Kate.

There's a larger youtube/twitch audience for SC of course. People play ED, they watch SC ;)

@AA : it seems you have never been able to quit your hangar in your 3 free flys ? It's the case ? If so, you haven't really tested SC. The best part of SC is outside cities.

"it took me almost an hour to get to that point" every newbie is lost for 1 hour in cities. When you know the path, it takes 5min max in city and 3 max in stations.

Not quite true! On my second (i think) free fly, starting at Port O, i actually got into space! This was before you were forced to start on a planetary base.

I flew towards a planet, I was aiming for a planetary port. But for some reason QT wouldn't activate to get me down to the planet... i was at the planet, but couldn't get down to it. I did read lots of guides while i was hanging there in space. I googled to hell and back, but nothing suggested worked. So I quit.

It was a bit frustrating as i'd spent several minutes in QT and i didn't have a single commando in my cargo bay who would stand around saluting me. I'm sure you understand my frustration.

However, i do feel i got the full new player experience. One that doesn't really work. And that its best if starting out with SC, you have someone along who will show you how to do stuff. Because solo, you are completely Robertsed!
