Wait what, did they fix the ship ramps all of sudden ? Because NPCs, while having a totally broken AI, are still wise enough to avoid them and stay in the ship. Or was it another one of CiG's notoriously not-in-actual-game videos ;)

Somehow CIG have failed to capture the essence of the alpha again ;)

(In fairness I did see one vid, out of the 9 or so I checked, where the NPCs did actually walk down the ramp, and then pace about.)

(The player then hitched a ride on the ship before it QTed away. It got into space, and promptly despawned ;))

Apart from the misleading tone...I think marketing were a bit premature. 22.47 here in the UK, the 3.17.2 PTU is still up and the patch still hasn't dropped to live :)

Which method ? It's not 10 years to make one system using a 'method', it's 10 years to create the company, engine, tech and workflow to do a system. When Pyro will be out, the engine, tech and workflow will be almost complete (jump point, big outposts on ground, proc gen for big space station, improved caves, improved city biome, easy to place rivers and some other improvements). After Pyro, creating new generic systems (not the specific ones) will almost be only using the tools existing. It's pre-alpha, Stanton is not about creating a system, it's about creating the creative engine.

So you're saying Pyro will be released, jumpable to, all that, within the next 10 years, since now they dont have to create the company, build new buildings, install a space door, augment software to make rivers, etc? Ok...lets see how that goes, and what this threads count will be at, by 2032. I'll bet you a coffee Pyro wont be ready. (I hope that isnt considered gambling lol)

Wait a minute. I thought "whales" (which IIRC are people who buy jpegs of ships for thousands of dollars) were the bad guys. Now they are the victims, while people who buy an actual starter ship for the cost of a typical video game, play said game (or alpha thereof), and enjoy it, they are now the bad guys?

I'm going back to my original assessment - you people are all nuts. 🤪

* don't worry @LittleAnt , SC may have been a bust for me, and I may balk at the requirement for a prehistory page file, but I'm glad that you, the other Ant, Drew, Kate, and all the rest are enjoying it. Though I do wonder why you stick around this thread, as all you're ever going to get here is a beating, quoted text case-in-point.
As much as I find this whole thing being a scam, if you can enjoy it as it is now, do so. If with a starter package, or only on free fly weekends, even better. (with less money, they'll either add new ships to get more money, or just go away). Either way, if you do get into the game, you can get a sense of what they're trying to do, and it becomes apparent it wont be achievable, at least by CIG.

Known Issues
  • Party Invite/Group Launch - Unable to party launch with friends
  • Players may have to restart the game after getting kicked to the main menu from a 30k server crash
  • Targeting - A ship's targeting pip may be missing or disappear for some players; they cannot be targeted when this happens
  • Multivehicle - Ships floating in the hangar when stored with the engines left on then retrieved again
  • Ships / Character Animation - The player character arm will misalign when seated in ships, causing obstruction of HUD and view
  • Vehicle / Spawning - The Khartu-al spawns on the hangar floor sideways
  • Vehicles / Ships - Shields - Weapon fire penetrates shields when ships are moving
  • Vehicles / ShipRefuel - While docked to a Starfarer multiple vehicle types will continuously tilt instead of remaining stationary and snap away from the arm if any movement is attempted
  • Vehicles – The Argo Raft's elevator controls cannot be interacted with from either deck
  • Crusader Ares - Headlights on Ares are too dim to notice at reasonable range
  • Medical Beacon- Medical beacon does not complete mission/payment when player is brought back from incapacitation
  • Animation - Weapons - All weapons are held like a pistol whilst moving in EVA
  • Combat AI - UGF Missions are sometimes missing NPC spawns to complete the mission
  • FPS Weapons - Weapon holsters or un-holsters unintentionally
  • Armor / Weapons / Utility items may disappear between sessions
  • Inventory - Weapons - Weapons looted directly equipped from containers/boxes are missing attachments
  • ASOP - Ships on landing pads end up in "unknown state" for location and have to be reclaimed after the ship is stored or streamed out
  • Missions - UGF / Bounty Hunter - Turrets around bunkers respawn very quickly, sometimes almost instantaneously
  • Mission Giver / AI / Locations - Wallace Klim is not aligned to the table and can be seen standing away from it
  • Multiple locations - R&R Stations - Stations are variably offset from the Lagrange point they are housed within
