Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Getting better with each update!

At this rate it'll be so better everything will be gone....
Maybe "batter" was meant? I know we pretty much laugh off the British cuisine here, but one thing for sure: the fried fish in batter is the best of it's kind from the island. Juicy and crispy at the same time, can't make it much better.
And on top of it you get sometimes the little green portions of mashed peas which are extremely good for throwing at the waiter (or the cook, should they show up).

I think it was the 1984 revision of the 'Fried Foods (Accompaniments)' legislation, paragraph 7, clause b, that clearly stipulated that mushy peas are considered to be legal requirement when serving or supplying cooked fish and chips.

It may have been clause c.

You're welcome. o7

This legislation holds the seed of unrest and rebellion in itself.

I wouldn't say it is desperate. I guess they finally hired their monetisation wizard and are consistently climbing the demand curve. Clever, honestly, when looking from the outside.

Perhaps, but it really feels this goes way beyond the usual demand and monetization curve. Especially when one considers the perception of the market is that SC is a crowdfunded game, that developers have pledged to use all funds into the development (not for profit) and they have the universal record for anything crowdfunded including their alleged best funding year in 2022.

There is something off here about how wildly CIG is pushing fomo and monetization to some of the most predatory levels ever seen, especially in a game that is still in alpha.

Berks expresses a similar idea in one of his interventions in the recent SalteMike roundtable (21:10):

Once again a reminder.

CR promised to treat backers with the same respect he would treat a publisher.

CR doesn't treat publishers with respect.

It was one of the few times CR was absoloutely honest.

Someone has to point out the fraud and dishonest business practices. And who is better suited for that than someone who didn't invest a single penny in it? It is a harsh and unthankful burden we have taken upon us. Every now and then a penitent acolyte joins these very thread and flagellates us for our honest work here. But we bear it with humble impassion - much more so than when being presented with mashed peas.

I tried to express my thoughts as a meme, but that other thread did that so much better:

I think if we can sit here stroking our chins sagely while swirling a glass of brandy at every unconfirmed leak because it happens to be negative, that its only reasonable to consider the tidbits CIG themselves officially talk about in the same manner.
What's funny about that is you don't say "consider positive leaks in the same manner" because for some reason leaks always seem to be negative, but I'm sure that's just some sort of hater conspiracy.
When leakers are paid hundreds of millions of dollars for their "work" then leaks can be treated in the same manner CIG's marketing and promises ought to be.

Controversially suggests he 'enjoys' the game he plays
Not trying to hijack your exchange with Agony, but the fact some people seem to "enjoy" SC has never been controversial in this thread as far as I can tell. What is often discussed here is if SC is actually a decent game or not, and how (in)competent can its developers be, especially given the money spent so far and after 10+ years. Plenty of people out there enjoying crappy games. Nothing wrong with that.

I kind of thought that would be inferred, by my general position, then I forgot that I have to treat each post here like I'm stood up at the Oxford Debating Society.

Please don't posit my stance as some weird star citizen fanboy thing, because that couldn't be further from the truth.

I dare say if you spent 30 odd quid SC is a laugh.

Its when that winds up being £1000 where the laughing gets aimed at the person and not the japes.
