I was just thinking the other day that I haven't been frozen water skating in years!
They started with CryEngine (made by Crytek) then after making many changes they renamed it Star Engine. Then they ported the game to Amazon Lumberyard (based on CryEngine) and now they call it Star Engine again.

Star engine is basically 99,9% same as CryEngine just with more(Star)garbage attached into it...
Grab a bucket, follow one of Mole's cows and you'll soon have plenty of what make SC
To be fair CIG made many changes to CryEngine. if you compare them side by side CryEngine can't do various things especially the seamless planet scale. However, at its core the Star Engine is CryEngine.

It's another rabbit hole of drama and redundant efforts. As I understand it, CIG's claim is that their engine is sufficiently modified and based on Amazon's license to them.

Amazon Lumberyard is also no longer in development (under this name). Presumably the license still holds, though?

Just watched this video from Obsidian Ant about the latest from CIG, there was a Citizen Con or something that happened right?
Wow. It just sounded like he was regurgitating all the same old lies and promises about "You can do this, and this will happen and if you do this that will have gameplays that affect more things that will will be awesome and next generationly seemless and will do the other other thing thats never been done ever and Star Engine licencing new techbollocks...." and so on etc.
I admit, I'm out of the loop I got bored with laughing at SC and Oddysey sucked so bad I gave up on Elite. But has something changed? What is OA playing at? Is he that short of things to talk about that hyping SC is the only thing left? Or are you all about to be proved wrong?

As an experiment, I think I'll park a ship on the frozen water. If SC claims to have persistence, and orbits, it will have seasons, and at some point that ship ought to at least partly submerge.
If it doesn't - it's another load of waveyhanded waffle.
