Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Time for some big talk : Will they add sales of SQ42 (when it eventually goes on sale) to the funding tracker, and given that it won't be out for another couple of years (at least) - will that put them over a billion $ with zero games delivered?

Plus:

The believers have been wondering if the bad servers recently are due to the influx of new players brought in by the mainstream positive coverage of SQ42 ... not sure the numbers back that up ... when's the next big ship sale due?
;)

edit: Scrub that - damn charts don't show October at all until .. tomorrow

LOL, on a discussion about the Pyro test env, someone says they won't care until it gets on the live build (which is also allegedly a test env as well), and then someone says this:

People say "I dont want to test something if its broken" then get mad when something arrives to the PU broken and then complain "This needed testing before it was released." The call, it would seem, is coming from inside the house

Are they basically admitting CIG doesn't even have any in-house QA? That they are entirely dependent on backers to do the QA?

I mean, when CIG said that all funds go towards development of the game, i assume that wasn't 100% literal, that it only covers development, not QA.

Backers have already paid their dues and their free testing of the game should be a plus for QA, not a requirement.

The EPTU looks to basically be to try and open the wallets of the NCTP crowd. Having a partial-pyro available for part of the day for 2 weeks isn't going to tell them anything apart from 'when the servers are busy they don't work well'. Which they should have figured out by now.

As amusing as this is, I'm assuming it's a random assortment of foobars from the last 10+ years of development. They can't all be recent can they? Perhaps someone can confirm?

It is 3.21:

Talking Kingpin is QA.

Oh I see you have the complete specs (and number) of servers present at CitCon vs the online cloud instances that CiG pay for at Amazon. And these are totally, 100% comparable. Of course. Oh and those players at CitCon were all exactly at the same time on the same map on the same server.. (at least one of them was not, as seen in video).

I see more of them, mostly T-posing or somehow stuck in something.

24 NPCs ! CiG are really pushing the limits of technology here. Consider me blown away.

Ahhh doors and ladders I see you are trolling us here :)
And no, these are not part of the entity graph either, by the way. And they are not what I would consider "interaction" as they are just map anchors.

Your and @Viajero ’s patience is truly awe inspiring. Talking to the petite picnic pillager continues to remind me of this:

Some of his answers legitimately worry me, as in they are deep into cult like denial. Him not seeing the actual gameplay footage vids posted right here means it's cognitive dissonance - they are not even registering. What worries me here is there are probably a lot others like him and this has never been seen before in gaming, this time for real, I mean there were always rivalries and fandom but not complete cult indoctrination like that. This reminds me of the CanardPC article on SC where they explained how they, for the first time in their decades long video game journalist career, received unnerving amounts of death threats in their mail.
What will these people become when funding dries out and CiG close doors ? How about their families and loved ones, and their obsession ? This reminds me of QAnon and similar cults where people cut ties with everyone, become isolated, depressed and end up doing bad things to others or themselves.
Sorry for the serious rant. I'll go and buy an Idris to redeem myself.
