Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

at least when i compare elite to star citizen, i have actually played elite. unlike some....

Honestly, I couldn't tell if troll or not. It pushes all the buttons for multiple WTFs and has a certain ChatGPT flair in parts.

Ouff, there is so much wrong and misunderstood about Elites flight and combat model in that post. Takes me back all those years when the flight model, gimbals etc was a hot topic here.

But Mike Evans was right.

well, you can tell that that cintara dude/dudette never heard of FA Off and fixed weapons in ED - and i do wonder if they actually flown a ship in ED and progressed beyond getting the flight license in ED - aka beyond the initial flying tutorials.
I cannot comment on flying a ship in SC, but they definitely know zilch about flying a ship in ED

It's a bot. It doesn't even understand what zero-g means. There is no zero-g in dog fights. It just collates popular talking points. "Lauded FM of SC". Please.

Not sure if parody or real but...

Back when I used to play Battlestar Galactica Online, one of the guys who ran the group I was in (Red Aces) used to have a similar discussion, but between him and his wife when she asked him about it.

But it was more along the lines of "I'd rather spend £30 a month on a F2P MMO than dump that in one night at the pub like everyone else I know does."

Pub is not a night club where you can meet strangers.

SQ42 “feature complete” watch!

All the missons are created, all the NPC, all the necessary shipps and locations. Doesn't mean they can't add physicalized damage or even change the flight model before release.

Adding features is just another word for polishing of course.

Just to be clear and avoid misunderstandings.... If we talk about feature complete, we both mean that all features are complete, don't we? And if not, what exactly does feature complete mean? What exactly is complete if not the features?

Assuming complete means complete, does that mean that if something is missing and a completely new feature is added after saying feature complete, that it was not feature complete? And if not, when is something feature complete, if not when all features have been implemented aka complete?

So much FUD! Clearly “feature complete” means that the list of features is complete. Not that the features themselves have been completed! Doh!

Doh! That's what's been in the briefcase in "Pulp Fiction" all along, innit? It was the content of the briefcase in Team Fortress, too, am I right? The List of Features, how could I not see! All this time!

Then the wife said "Fair enough" and went out to the pub, slept with a random guy, while the husband is sat playing computer games at home.

Wow, that J_Kalven dude is almost as bad as ChatJ3PT. He acts like only he knows the truth and anyone who disagrees is wrong and doesn't understand game development.

A guy literally points out all the stuff CIG have shown off before that have never appeared in game and he says "Thank you for proving my point" when the guy was doing the opposite.

Its a universe sim. Space flight and ship combat are just two parts of the entire game. Not the only part of it.
Star Citizen is an MMO of the Sci-Fi fantasy genre with some elements of sim where it makes sense. It's not a "realistic space sim", and doesn't need to be just to stand out.
It's a game first and a sim second.
Well, what is it?
I wait for the day when Citizens come out and declare outright Star Citizen is Star Citizen, which is pretty much what a lot of them had been saying why they like the game.

So let's assume that you don't know what the bigger picture is when it comes to what CIG is wanting to do with MM, it's a fairly easy step in a larger issue you don't have the details on. If you want to understand the whole picture than the easiest solution to that end is get a job working for CIG.
I think this is funny. So not allowed to criticize Star Citizen becuase we don't know the big/small picture and the only way to know is to work for CIG. Working for CIG however means NDA so in the end we can't criticize Star Citizen.

I think the confusion comes between "realism" and "believable", because you can have something that feels "believable" but not be realistic
Did I miss something? When did they stop using "immersion"?

Unfortunately the direction of a lot of things lately has been away from realism and more to arcade/rule of cool.
Lately? Seriously?
