Lol...

Mods zapped the first post. This was their follow up...

Had to take my post down, but the message remains. Test more, cry less. CIG Dev over and out!

What part of the previous post was related to the scrum?

On a completely different tack, this burner account claims to be a CIG dev...

...snip...

...And honestly, that could easily be one of their Jnr believer devs ;). Just repeating all the dual-purpose cope lines (which are for both external and internal consumption), and holding out for the next vN Jesus Techs...
Well, if that is someone from the inside it demonstrates poor judgement.

"What we don’t read are tantrums"

And what paying customers do not appreciate is reading childish petulance. Doubly so after 13 years of 'alpha' and a metric tonne of money gone up in smoke.

Oh wow, so that's a legit post from CIG Yogi?

LOL, thereby confirming that the info was real, therefore it really was a dev. Well played Yogi, you should have ignored it.

From that thread:
In principal i absolutely adore the idea of having stuff you gotta earn in-game.
Jeebeezus, how bad the game design must be? and how badly must CIG´s monetization have broken you for you to have to say something like that?

Does it work like a loot box, with random chance to get a ship, or is it predictable like ranking up with the Empire to get a Cutter?

Pure lootbox, random chance. (You can get multiple duplicates too. The next patch also seems to be upping the pool a fair bit, so good luck getting that Polaris the one you want ;)).

AFAIK the random reward sites are the only ways to get the Polaris in-game.

E: Apparently the Polaris has its own dedicated Wikelo uber-grind mission, so not in the lootbox rotation there. (Pretty sure it's in the lootbox pool for the Pyro 'executive hangar' mission though).

I'm assuming that'll be the same for all top-dollar ships going forward. Pain or purchase. (And many of the new mid-tier $$ ships too, going by the RNG pool additions. But guess we'll see.)

They're talking about pretty standard gamey stuff there no? Grind for X, earn rep for Y etc. Nothing unusual in that.

Thankfully a big slice of the community, including that poster, can smell a rat with this 'painful task to probably-not-RNG the (purchaseable) ship you want' scenario.

Gonna be interesting to see if this is just CIG's way of softening the community up for a 'less bad' fallback position. (Which still includes lootbox content gating).

Or will they just plough on, under a 'one day you'll be able to craft these' veil ;)

Crafting will entail huge grindwalls, skippable by a new subscription ;)

So it took this guy a month of regular play to grind out the dedicated Polaris mission:

I started up when scrips got introduced, to me the quest switched from not even in my dreams to doable. So I'd say a solid month if you play regularly. since 4.2 drops next week if you are willing to get into it, start first with the favors, helmet and everything else besides the quantinium because it takes time to process + from what i remember refining is faster coming with 4.2

(Boy are they gonna be miffed if 4.2 wipes it ;))

Polaris sounds like a MASSIVE grind. A group of players lost all of their stuff they ground (grinded? :D ) for. Out of curiosity, I asked how many hours... Was seriously NOT expecting this reply :O
