Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Reading the various bits about precision etc reminds me of something. Didn’t there used to be an ex-Fdev guy who went to SC and used to post here occasionally? What ever happened to him?

Edit: Ben something or other….possibly…..

Workaround Watch:

The Problem:

Yes. Exec hangars have been bugged in multiple ways since pre-release. The ASOP doesn't always work, the card slots rarely reset, the red door doesn't always open, the kill field doesn't always disable, the components in the hangar rarely spawn and the exec ships post-patch often get deleted or lose components.
Don't expect fixes, if you're spending hours solo-running boards I'd recommend just banking them and not bothering with ex hangars.

The Solution!

I have over 20 solo executive hangar completions, all comp boards farmed solo as well, here’s some tips:

  1. In every server, usually one, two, or all three of the executive hangars are bricked.
  2. Aprox ~20% of all server shards have 3 bugged unusable exec hangars. This was closer to 80% towards the end of 4.1.1’s life, so expect it to keep getting worse as hangars get indefinitely bricked within their server shards.
  3. of the other 80%, about 40% have 1 bugged hangar, and 40% have 2 bugged hangars. This means it’s extremely lucky if the first exec hangar you come across actually lets you insert your keys.
The clear tell that a hangar can’t be opened, is that there are already keycards in the slots, and it won’t allow you to put new ones in. I get there 5-20min before the hangars open, and check each one until I find one with empty holes- because you can see the bugged old keycards that didn’t reset regardless of if the lights are all green, or turning green soon.

  1. If all 3 are bugged, time to bedlog. Having a large friends list helps immensely to find low population servers to hop to. You can bedlog from very close to the entrance of the door and pop right in with your ship. If you’re TOO close to the wall, sometimes it defaults you to 25km away.
  2. After successfully opening a hangar, there are some nuances.
  3. Always wait 5-8 seconds after claiming the ship before requesting for it to be delivered. Requesting the delivery before the server has finished claiming it will cancel out the claim entirely, and brick the hangar in that server indefinitely (congrats, you created a bugged hangar that won’t reset now). I lost my first F7A pull from this.
  4. If you are opening two hangars on the same server in the same hangar cycle, if you see the “uninitialized” marker, for the first hangar you claimed, the second hangar will NOT allow the claim to go through. The fix for this is to destroy the ship that was claimed on the first hangar, you can then freely loot another hangar (assuming you have the keys, and no other players opened it before you)
  5. After your ship is claimed + delivered, the hangar doors will close after about 10-15 minutes, making it hard to loot the high value components as a solo player.
Solution: - Cutlass Red is my go-to, but any ship with a medical bed works; Cutty Red, Starlancer Tac, or a Connie (taurus) with an Ursa medical are my top 3 suggestions. Any bigger tends to make your ship a target, and any smaller sacrifices having room to loot components. - There are 5 spots where ship components spawn: - Coolers: on a small table near Elevator B - Power plants: in a small box shaped room - Shield generators: one in the far back left corner, opposite of the QT drive corner, and one on a table near elevator A. - QT drives, all stacked very obviously in the right corner. - Pile up all these in one spot, claim the ship, and then backspace back into your ship you came in. - if the ship you got is a cutlass black or corsair, it’s very convenient and easy to load the components and dip without needing the suicide trick - Drive your ship around the back of the asteroid, using your dead body skull indicator as a helpful reference to find the big open hangar entrance, drive ship inside, rapidly loot and get out before the door shuts. - Extra step: if you’re going to rapidly drop off the loot, grab another set and go back, destroy the non-cargo ship that just got claimed (Syulen/f7a/f8c), or else you won’t be able to claim the second ship due to “uninitialized”.

I kinda went over the top and just conscious dumped and accidentally made an exec hangar solo guide but I really enjoy the content and hope that the bug you faced doesn’t deter you from trying again.

So far I’ve claimed 7 cutlass blacks, given 5 cutlass blacks to friends/strangers, claimed 5 syulens, gave one away to stranger in global chat, have claimed 1 f8c, and have stolen 1 f7a from a different group I snuck in behind.

Now I got a bit unlucky, but heads-up that the odds are not 20% each. They are heavily skewed towards cutlass black and Syulen, but we don’t have as much data on that like the wikelo stuff.

Let me know if you have any questions and good luck

@VR Golgot here's a video idea for you: get all of the "Once X is implemented / When we finally get Y / There will be Z eventually" kind of posts from 13 years and cross reference with the current (perpetual) state of the game :D

Golgot usually does relatively short videos though. This one would go on for hours!

How about one where they talk about the ongoing mess hall scene work in the SQ42 monthly updates? I think they only mentioned that about 1000 times over the years!

@Ben Parry . He pops into the thread every couple of years.

AFAIK he still works there.
Yogi Klatt used to work for FDev too if I remember rightly...

Originally with FDev as a sound engineer or something...can't remember now, it was so long ago...although it might have been Ben who was the sound engineer when he was at FDev 🤷‍♂️

Not only am I old with rapidly fading braincells, the Romans were building Hadrian's wall round about the same time...

Got a long-list of 'would take forever to do' ones like that ;)

One that tempts me at the mo is a 'CIG feature hype vs atrophied in-game reality' one. So disappeared stuff like the NPC dropships, and just rolling trash like the Hull C ;)

Problem is believers get the 'it might get better / it's alpha' out. (And it's really hard to get footage of disappeared features ;))

You could do one about how everything eventually becomes a different coloured laser.

Ooops, apparently my previous reply wasn't appreciated.
