Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

A lot of speculation and "CIG said" in relation to NPC crew in the comments here

Oh dear...

star citizen will be the most complex and immersive game ever made in my opinion and wich will influence and change the whole game industry for years ...

And someone says...

Funding source 1: Continued sales of new games and a % of sales from SQ42 sequels Confirmed
Funding source 2: Selling UEC (please bring back the cap after the VD bubble has had time to pass   ) Confirmed
Funding source 3: Selling some cosmetic items Unconfirmed but dev mentioned
Funding source 4: concept ships speculative but likely

1: New games? They are struggling to release one. And SQ42 depends very much on how good it is when released.
2: Pay to Win - post release, this would not even be debatable.
3: Par for the course these days
4: CIG promised to stop selling ships post release.... but there again, CIG have promised lots of things over the years

Haha, they are having a ship expo in Dual Universe

Hah, someone doesn't want their big ship being destroyed by small ships

I wonder how much they are in for.

Is CIG preparing the game for CR? LOL

Ooooh someone daring to ask if CIG have done stuff they have talked about doing... from 2014

SC's scale

Not real scale of course. But let's not mention that.

Also... good time to be a gamer... yes, it is. And SC isn't a factor in that. PC gaming doesn't need saving.

very well made vid
still with the 100 systems at launch tho'
with the size I dont believe we will need 20 systems

LOL... bargaining down. Funny.

There's only one nameable ship as far as I know...the warbond Corsair. It was part of the warbond package for the concept jpeg...'Pick a unique name for a ship you won't see for 11 years'. Awesome :D

I always get a bite out of the faithful when I remind them that all my ships in Elite have unique names and serial numbers 🤭

I mean, even Warframe, a F2P looter-shooter, has implemented ship names on hull (and multicrew, and boarding, and crew fixing fire/hull breaches from inside the ship or forging ammo or the resources the pilot needs to activate the systems...)

CIG "made so much money" in the last 2 years they had to take an investment buy in twice to stay in business. Fact.

No, no, CIG vowed not use any backers money for marketing and advertising and those are just marketing funds you silly goose. That is all. CIG promised backers that all the investment money is earmarked for the marketing and launch campaigns for SC and SQ42 obviously and will never, ever, true blue, be touched for development of the game.

You obviously have frack all idea about PR manipulation and having cakes and eating them

It's still early days my dear Skiz! We are still in the earliest stages of development of Tier 0 of the Vision - things will really start to ramp up soon, now that the pipelines are laid for really delivering on Ship Sale content production.

CI-G are still building corporate entities and onboarding talent to staff the studios - and this takes time, as anyone with any experience will full well know.

We can expect development to really start in the next couple of years, and that is really quite an extraordinary accomplishment..

This was known a long time before prisons magically appeared - nearly-completed too - on the roadmap, because TheAgent leaked about it roughly a year beforehand.
TheAgent was right.
Was it really a full year or just a few months? It is pretty funny that I've dropped so many freaking leaks at this point I can barely remember them. I do remember the PvP drop being pretty damn spot on, though.

After a bit of searching around, i found this post from May 2019 (the prison was added in April 2020's 3.9 update):
hello
  • expect a big announcement regarding 4.0/"the future of Star Citizen" this year
  • this will include a statement about "release" and how you've been playing SC "release" as it evolves
  • "No other game company offers this level of transparency or honesty."
  • new ship sales (including variants) to increase to a monthly or bi-monthly schedule
  • quarterly packages, including rare or limited ships, to start appearing soon with limited buying
  • "FOMO is our middle name."
  • package benefits (???) of sqlude being pushed at q3 2019
  • subscription benefits (as told in leaks months and months ago) to increase "on a massive scale"
  • buyers of certain pre-order ship packages will get in game benefits including the ability to order other PCs (what??) into action
  • criminal gameplay "not supported" in game, penalties for breaking "rules" harsh and severe with real time penalties
  • "trolls and griefing" a major focus atm
  • "We are locked in a constant and brutal battle against our own players." (???)
  • more and more tie ins to sq42 and your SC character
  • last server wipes to occur q3 2020 (target q1 2020)
  • new gameplay modes coming online at a rapid pace
  • all of it needs to be ready (for Squadron) launch
  • "Absolutely none of this is ready, in any form. It is ridiculous."
  • sweating over next year, as financials tied to 3rd parties have hard deadline
  • turbulent still unhappy with offered deal, looking for back monies owed
  • 3lateral unable to compromise on quality
  • need at least 100,000 sales at $299 to break even
  • AMD looking to repartner with Cloud Imperium after gaming management change (lol)

Please stop your FUD. Prisons were the next logical step in crime & punishment development. Any shielding of important whale dollars was entirely incidental.
