Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Count me in there. Too busy enjoying BG3 and its incredible scope. I suppose Starfield then Phantom Liberty will complete the year for me.
That selection sounds so delicious like a platter of freshly grilled fine, small, tasty fishes. SC in comparison is like someone trying to make Kale work Modern American style: raw and without any lard. Guys, you need to ask your grannies how it's done - not some fancy lifestyle trend!

I was thinking about this yesterday.
Comparing different games. Why isn't it fair to compare Baldur's Gate 3 to Star Citizen or starfield or Neir Automata? They're different genre but its not like gamers play one genre of games exclusively, for certain Mole and Little Ant plays BG3 even though they play Star Citizen. One argument is game X doesn't have the features of game Y or doesn't have the same experience. The way I see it, you can only play one game at a time and the time invested in one game isn't being put into other games, so the gmae you chose to play the majority of time is the better one, more enjoyable, more entertaining, compared to the others in you library.

Look at RTS games, there's not many new RTS games around anymore. It's not because one RTS game killed the others, its because some other genre of games overtook the market to the point developers sees little return in making new RTS games.

Will Starfield be the Star Citizen killer? Definitely, for everyone who buy and plays Starfield. What would be more interesting and revealing is how many people buy into Star Citizen after Starfield release. Hell, how many bought into Star Citizen after Baldur's Gate 3 release would better prove my point that games doesn't have to be in the same genre to kill another game.

I still haven't made my mind up SP vs MP games. Are people playing MP games over SP games because they are superior or because they like playing with their friends? The test might be playing MP games alone, or playing the MP game with their friends vs playing it with complete strangers.
No BG3 for me...turn based combat just doesn't float my boat at all. I'd play it for 5 minutes then shelf it...and BG3 deserves way more than that. :)

As for the SP v MP question...I'm distinctly in the SP camp for personal preference. My games playlist reads like one of a sad person with no mates living in a basement...The Last of Us 1 & 2, Horizon Forbidden West, Ghost of Tsushima, Deus Ex : Mankind Divided™, Spacebourne 2, RDR2 single player, God of War...I'm sure you can see the pattern :)

Like OA said in his latest video, it's everything CiG promised as an independent studio: sky high ambition, unprecedented scope, and everything you could dream of for a specific niche game genre. The difference is obviously Larian fully delivered (and as I said previously, 3 other games since SC started) while CiG completely missed the mark.

I really enjoyed Divinity Original Sin and DoS2, so know I'll enjoy BG3 also, however I'll be picking it up on sale later down the line. Too many other games are currently occupying my playing, not least of all the many upcoming ones: Starfield, Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty (will start a fresh run for that, my 4th), Cities Skylines 2, and Armoured Core 6. So many good games atm

I read Spectrum from time to time and Reddit several time each day.
Well you should read Spectrum more, you know why? Because it disproves your 'all the woe' is here nonsense that's why.

Spose you are now going to tell us how bleeding subscribers and a tanked funding tracker is awesome for development yeah?

Spectrum, today, just this second -

If this is such a great project in such a great place why do you have to keep misrepresenting the facts?

We all know the answer already, don't bother.

I've never really thought about it that way tbh, you do make a valid point. I was just looking at the SP vs MP aspect.

Have never liked turn based combat, dont really like fantasy, and not a fan of most single player games.

and i cant stop playing bg3. it has me hooked.

maybe the 2nd single player story game ever that i finish.

That was my point that I made via a humorously confusing set of scenarios and a random Douglous Adams quote (Always gets a like or two without really having to think)
I also finished it off by posting "nobody plays Elite anymore" in Chinese using Google translate but it got removed (for not being English) because this forum isn't friendly enough for tomorrow's Starcitizen fan :-(

The old guard still marching out the door under OA. And taking their money with them...

That's the second Legatus [$25k spent] 'leaver' I've seen in three days.

Let's just highlight that for a moment.

$25,000 spent.

I'm sure CIG can find more big spenders. But they seem to be losing some their current batch at an accelerated rate at the mo.

I havent spent that much, but i have spent way too much.

and after a certain point there isnt really a reason to buy another ship. what the hell am i going to do with it.

and the ships i main fly are the gladius and cutlass black. when i do play all im doing is playing on an account that doesnt have ships and earning ships in game.

Well it’s certainly fun, but BG3 is about as much a BG game as Star Citizen is a released space game with ships and an entire universe to explore.

Mind you, BG3 also has more aliens in it than Star Citizen does.

LA is only paid to shill on the ED forums. Just like Joe whatsiface is only paid to shill on Discus pages ;)
