Had another session today (I only play in PU btw) and it was actually another session without a single crash that would break the game and effectively waste my time. This is progress, but as I said at the end of my stream it's an utter absurd to be happy about a thing like that after 12 years and 700 million dollars :D

It wasn't too bad overall, but we got some usual glitches :D

A lot of sane comments, which is amazing for a shill channel.

Some faithful in there doing the usual simping, but a lot are highlighting issues, including the issue with how locations aren't designed to handle so many players.

Yeah, but this is not just about the finite asop screens, elevators or habs to spawn but about the obvious inability of the game bandwidth to cope with players once the count starts to get towards 100, which incidentally is the current server cap now.

Either CIG finds a miraculous way to actually make significant progress over 100 players in a single server or limited space (the just past tests didn’t), or they will have to come up with an artificial limitation preventing players to cross server boundaries or concentrating in high numbers (queuing, waiting times etc like the ones we have seen in the tests)... and thereby defeating the whole point of server meshing as you may get rid of instancing or loading screens only to end up imposing player access restrictions.

Dynamic server meshing is supposed to deal with this... eventually, but given the current lack of meaningful progress for the static meshing I just do not see it.

Plan C would be to revert back to instancing in some form, like the instacing CIG has already stated they will use in hangars and other interior environments accross the game. Even the meshing we have seen recently announced by the Unreal engine is explicitely capitulating to the necessity of heavy instancing/layering in some form.

Base building not only confirmed but also raised as a new blocker for Pyro!

Looks like 3.24 broke mining again:

It's sad that CIG broke mining and has not done anything to address its issues.

Mining ships cannot mine because minable resources do not spawn on planets and moons.

Scanning any rocks in space will cause a crash to the desktop.

Since patch 3.24.0, we have not been able to bring up mining bags on the Freight Elevators without them falling through if we try to take them off with a tractor beam.

Taking mining bags off any ships means you can't place them back on the ship, thanks to collection issues.

Because of the same collection issues, we cannot place mining bags in ships that can transport them.

We are in wave 5 PTU, open to all. This has been the worst I've seen the mining gameplay loop in, and I'm very disappointed because nothing seems to be planned to get it back into a working state

This whole cult of Tyrer is a twist I did not see coming 😁

Yeah it´s been already a few devs in Mike´s Discord, not just this one, that have fawned over Rich Tyrer as the one and true savior. With even some classy innuendo dismissing Todd Pappy´s work. Definitely looking like the marching orders are to hail Rich´s advent as a new era of some kind.

"Before Rich everything was broken, with Rich everything will be fixed, trust us!"

Pretty cringe either way if you ask me.

Tod Pappy out of the picture. Tony Zzzzz out of the picture. A new messiah has arisen!
