Discussion about someone who found their old copy of Freelancer

It was a great game and the main story was awesome. But it's important to notice that the development history of Freelancer and Chris Roberts involvement in it was not a success stroy at all.

I knew that going in to star citizen and hoped freelancer was more of a lesson learned scenario

Ooopsie.

The closest they have to Arrakis is Daymar (for the foreseeable future). I was waiting for Ci¬G to name one of the other Crusader moons Nightmar...but strangely, they chose to name them Cellin and Yela instead

Old Daymar, looks completely different now

I've actually just found mine. Just installed to see if it will still run and with a couple of tweaks its all working perfectly :) Just had a read through the credits. The best CR managed was a Original Idea and a "Special" Thanks listing.

Now if you'll all excuse me I've a load of The Order ships to go blow up :)

I haven't been trolling around Daymar for an age...I usually mine somewhere else with better pickings. Still a nice screenie though :)

The only recent-ish screenie I have of Daymar is from when the MSR was released to flyable...

Sweet polar/urban camo bro, they won't see you coming! :D

I mean, come on guys. What's done is done. Everyone who wanted a moan has had plenty of moans already. Cloud Imperium Games have stated their plans for the coming months and its not likely they can say any more than that.

Yeah, Star Citizen's release was bad. I'm still not playing and won't until I can play with decent FPS (which may be months away or perhaps even never), and i'm not happy about it.

But hells people, some people are still banging on about it.

Its been months already. Everything that needed to be said has been said. Cloud Imperium Games have already heard everything from words of support to people declaring refunds or they are throwing their computers out of the window because Star Citizen made them so angry.

Time to progress to stage 7, get over it. Play something else. Play Elite Dangerous Horizons. Or if you can, play Odyssey if you want.

VR users, accept it, VR for legs isn't happening this year at least, if ever. You're still in the bargaining phase, trying to get CIG to change their plans. Its not happening.

People with performance issues - get over it. CIG are working on it, but it might never improve significantly. Pass through the grief, move into acceptance.

People with other issues - you've reported them, you've said your piece, and hopefully Cloud Imperium Games are listening. If they are, and they agree with you and are capable of changing things, then its just a matter of time. If they are not listening or they don't agree with your issues or they simply can't change those things, then it doesn't matter. Time to move on.

Or, alternately, spend your energy for the coming months complaining about stuff. I mean, there is one positive. You can keep complaining and complaining until Cloud Imperium Games eventually do improve performance and perhaps add VR or make other changes, and then when they do you can claim credit for making CIG do it. Of course you didn't, but you can claim you did, and that if it wasn't for you then CIG would never have done anything. There is probably some comfort to living in that sort of reality. :p

Or perhaps you'll simply claim that its people like me that allow devs to get away with doing bad stuff, and that only if everyone was like you that we wouldn't have devs putting out bad releases. In which case, I can only say LOL.

And no Ecity, no stuffz to be had here. I'm just waiting for CIG to sort stuff out. It might be a while though.

In the meantime, i'm sinking tens of hours into X4 Foundations and the DLC I'm getting next week. Looking forward to that!

PS: If you want something to watch while playing games, watch Elite Week! If you're not laughing within 20 minutes, then you are probably dead.
Eh… it gives me something amusing, interesting, and/or educational do while on break at work. Unraveling the ARG that is Cloud Imperium Games is far more productive than my last such time waster: politics and religion. ;) These says, I try to summon quite the same energy I used to argue against the pull of the quagmire of mediocrity that Frontier has driven Elite Dangerous into. Better to enjoy the elements that still work, than to mourn the elements that used to be.

Still looking forward the next Free Fly event in Star Citizen. I’d like to test my new computer against their frankenmod of Cry-Engine 3, plus I did back this game back in the day. I’d like to see what my $40 would’ve had given me if I hadn’t successfully gotten a refund.

I almost took part in the last FFE, but my internet was shizzle at the time, so I didn't bother. I too have some modest hardware upgrades on the way, so if the Internet gods favor me, I may give it a try during the next event, whenever that is.

In the meantime, I do get enjoyment watching others like D2EA play SC on the uTube.

Some nice pics of my MSR with the same Camo.

Early dawn on Hurston. The little smudge you see just up to the right of the Stanton Star is actually the HUR-L1 Gas Cloud.

These images, they awaken the 8 year old in all of us!

I got myself an Aurora package in the Christmas deal for slightly cheaper, and I couldn’t be happier with the money I spent. I had found out about the gam when I was around 8 or 9 years old, I went down to the kitchen and my dad was on the phone reading up about this space game that had made a lot of money on Kickstarter. I thought it was cool, but I was quite young so when I saw it I thought the game looked quite scary and didn’t want to play it. Years later after playing NMS and watching videos on YouTube, the algorithm had figured that I like space games and introduced me to “An Architect reviews the 890J”. The moment I saw this I was mesmerised by the magic of the game. Then I watched another on the Hammer Head, then another on the Mercury Star Runner. Before I knew it I had watched every video on his channel and was now watching Bored Gamer. Then, I decided to get the game.

Now if only the Mercury Star Runner could actually data run between stars ;)

The other space game's company engages in "bad behavior"!

Let me check the game where the CEO charged $1,000 backers $275 for a dinner, to reveal a $675 ship that's not in game.

Solid reasoning.
