Amazing, they take the form of hover bikes

And the trading game loop in SC?
So much better than Elite...

Locations with variety, where weather, ship damage, and what you put on your ship actually effect gameplay.

Oh yea, and your actually trading cargo as apposed to numbers on a spreadsheet.

Trading in Elite is flying to a station, then going to a website, then seeing some numbers change, then flying to a station that basically looks identical to the one you left, to change some numbers. You don't even need to get out of your pilots seat.

Don't get me wrong, a few changes could make the spreadsheet trading in Elite feel a bit more visceral, but it will never happen.

As a long term backer and regular player of SC (as well as ED)...I've no idea what you're seeing that I'm not. Repeating Ci¬G fanboy bollox on here won't win you any favours for sure...especially since there are other long term backers and SC players who are regular contributors on here, besides me, who will call you out on the cow crap. Yet you appear out of the blue and seem to assume you're preaching to the great unwashed. I've spent around 5,000 hours in SC since 2015...slightly more playing ED over the same period of time.

All this Star Citizen is better than Elite (and vice versa) drive by trolling has been tried before on here...ad nauseum...didn't work then either so the hopeful trolls just went back to hiding under whatever bridge they had been hiding, never to be heard from again. Perhaps you should try the SC subreddit or Spectrum as the places to spout utter cow crap if you're looking for a few upvotes rather than just trolling for the sake of it.

You want to talk about SC? Fine, that's what this section of the forum is all about...but lets keep it real shall we? 🤷‍♂️

That's a whole lot of words to describe buy X from terminal at location A and deliver to location B.

And compared to ED, there's a whole lot less options in trading and no dynamic economy beyond basic buy/sell limits.

ED has buy/sell limits based which change dynamically, economic states that change based on player actions which affect availability and prices.

Its by no means a fantastic system, but its way beyond what SC has to offer.

Happy new year!

Here are some things that ED clearly does better, off the top of my head:
  • Motherships which don’t despawn when their launchable fighter is away, leaving the pilot stranded
  • NPC control of said launchable fighters, with commands etc
  • Trade capital ships which actually exist. And can trade.
  • On foot stealth (which exists outside of a convention demo)
  • Reliable FPS AI
  • Possession persistence and progression over multiple years (without the need for micro purchases)
  • A functioning background simulation (trade, factions, POI etc)
  • Networking & databases which put you back in a similar place, with the same stuff, if you disconnect.
  • Networking which allows for PvP without absurd desync.
  • Fully functioning starter ships for noobs.
  • Stairs which don’t kill you.

Etc etc.

Regardless of any personal preferences we may have, ED’s launched products clearly do various things better than SC’s alpha variants.

And yet, end to end, it’s pretty robust.

SC’s? Hmm…

Enjoy SC all you like mate.

But try not to extol it via silly hyperbole while you’re at it eh ;)

You've pointed out some bugs, however in order.

1. Sounds like a bug - similar things happen in elite, though granted a lot less

2. Don't start me on the elite ai, that doesn't even turn up for work if you change ship

3. Elite has trade capital ships? I assume you mean a fleet carrier (which requires the life commitment of not going on a long holiday)
because it ain't the type 9

4. I can't comment on on foot gameplay too much as I decided to get SC instead of oddessy on pc, (because I'd have to redo ALL the grind or lose the ability to play on my Xbox) the fps in oddessy looks like utter pants tho. Like laughable levels of bad

5. Oddessy ai is rubbish. A joke. I've not done much pve combat in SC yet, but the gunplay in PvP is good and feels realistic and rewards for skill

6. Meh, they are pretty open about the wipes, it is still in development after all

7. Ah yes...the "background simulation"... immortal factions of NPC's in bubble space that allegedly effect the gameplay of cmdrs (10 points if you get the reference ;-p )

8. I've thus far had no issue on logging out and back in, and being where I was, with what I had, where I left it (tho my understanding is that's a fairly new thing)

9. I can't really speak for PvP beyond the fps Deathwatch game mode (which I think is good - punishing, but good)... I use Shadow tech for my gaming pc (you basically rent a blade server with dedicated GPU in a data centre, think x-cloud but pc running Windows) - so can't get too competitive with PvP anyway.

Having said that, both elite and star citizen are for me ... Mobile games.

On this I will give elite a brucey bonus, as you NEED to click left mouse button on SC but can play 100% with controller on elite. This is not normally an issue, but something between shadow and SC spazzes out when I tap the screen (which on shadow is mouse click) and instead behaves as if you pointed mouse to floor. However when playing on my 3gb ram 7mm thick netbook it's not an issue as you have the touchpad. You can of course connect a mouse to the phone, but at that point, may as well use netbook.

10. I've not experienced any issues with my starter ship. I got the avenger titan space shuttle one...works well, even after I accidentally sheered off one of the wings

11. Not died on stairs (yet?). Have died when I stepped out of the respawn room with what was evidently a bit too much haste, and proceeded to step into a void...which then spawned the ground, just in time for me to hit it.

Hyperbole is the future. Everything is 200% do you not watch the news?....were in "the winter of death" for godsakes

It's best not to feed the trolls. Especially ones who don't actually play games and/or SC.

It will be good to see you posting some positivity for once - the constant negativity from your ED posts was a bit trying :)

So - what are you planning to back for this year? Drew went for a Cutty Black, but you sound like more of a believer so I guess you have bigger plans - the game won't get built on starter packs after all!

Will you be subscribing? And any plans to hit concierge? I get the impression that's where the fun really kicks in, and it would be good to get some fresher concierge in here (y)

Numbers on a spreadsheet, which is done better by EvE, which was already out.

None of the things you have described has any actual effect on gameplay.

The environmental effects, and ship damage in SC however do.

The best thing about shills is they're incredibly stupid. Everyone gets to point and laugh and cringe, while they think they're winning or something. It's basically like Brent and his dancing:

Your salt and cope sparks joy.
Good video, it's relevance is from the same era that the gameplay in elite is from.

Don't worry, I'm sure in 2022 you will make enough money to get a system that can play star citizen
