Are we now playing "How many games have you released?"
Its one thing i'm actually grateful to @LittleAnt for, as he did clear up my misconception that large space battles were planned from the start. Of course, the rest of the stuff he say is tripe though![]()
Well they sold the Idris from the start. The Javelin from 2014 etc. They sold the principle of large scale capital ship combat before they had any kind of clue how they could deliver it.
That’s still crap ¯\(ツ)/¯
At this stage I have actually released more games than CIG.Are we now playing "How many games have you released?"

Well on that category Me and my friends: 2 CIG: 0Same. I handed out copies of my breakout game on tape to my friends when i was a kid! Oh, and a text based adventure game!

C'mon man. Be fair. The restaurant was still iterating the menu!I went to a pricey restaurant on my anniversary last week (we dined outside in a secluded corner, because efff exposure risks - and also, I'm sure my attire put off the regular clientele).
I ordered a chicken dish and it was raw on the inside. My wife specified her allergies and her dish still contained tree nuts upon inspection. Now, I'm not a trained chef, and know nothing about braising. I'm not even a good saucier.
Should I have complained or held the kitchen staff accountable?
Or should I have ignored the order and the menu descriptions?
TL;DR Some SC backers love black and white thinking.
The restaurant has been a standard in my city for over 100 years. I should really ask if their clients in 1935 voted to expand the selections and ignore customer expectations based on what was shown on the menu. (You know, because a chef without direction is the best chef!)C'mon man. Be fair. The restaurant was still iterating the menu!
You just do not understand food catering business. Wait until they develop new InstaWelldoneChicken techThe restaurant has been a standard in my city for over 100 years. I won't let you silence the existence of Hyper Vanguard Force, you mean people!Well on that category Me and my friends: 2 CIG: 0
Couple of nice text based adventures programmed with Pascal at 1990'sWe even did pretty extensive bug testing, program did not puke with unexpected commands and so on. Found some years ago old source code, and it did even compile on modern Linux
(Ran too...so even Linux version
Does that count as separate release? )
oh wow… I totally forgot about that one.I won't let you silence the existence of Hyper Vanguard Force, you mean people!
AFAIK, no…Serious question - do planets in Star Citizen at least try to simulate orbital mechanics? As in, do the stars and moons rise and set (as seen from a planet's surface), or is it like NMS and Space Engineers where the entire skybox is static and Apollo drives the sun around in his chariot?
Naw, they’ve got Odyssey beat by a mile. I can play Odyssey in VR on my “lowly” 3060, so SC is ahead on that particular leg of the race to the bottom.Ah, i see they are aiming for Odyssey level of performance![]()
Not entirely, they have said that SM requires a bunch of prerequisites:Have you?
The difference between us is that I’m citing developers, and CIG’s own claims, to support my arguments.
Whereas you’re just pulling claims out of your… magic bag of hopium![]()
YesWhich suggests designing a 'dynamic meshing' system that ignores that rule was foolish. And claiming a single shard is still possible, with the proposed architecture & gameplay, is an incredibly dubious 'carrot on a stick'. Also known as lies![]()
You can test this with loading up a bunch of 890 jumps on a server as they've said an Idris or Javelin with an Interior makes pretty much the same performance impact as an 890 Jump. A CIG dev said this on reddit, altough I cannot be bothered right now to scower through endless posts to get a link to it. Out of my experience, the server doesn't care too much about a couple 890s in it.You are forgetting the scaling required:
- No capital ships with interiors have been tested in the PU. (And those without interiors hammer performance as it is).
- How do multiple capital ships engage with 80+ players & NPCs each? Given performance is currently poor with less, and server caps aren’t expected to get beyond 100, they’re going to hit various walls at once.
Well that's rubbish... I give Frontier a lot of gruff for not being able to do simple things in Elite, yet they nailed realistic solar systems in a way I guess nobody else can. Is it really that hard? I get why in a game like Space Engineers doesn't, where planets are made out of destructible voxels, and No Man's Sky doesn't even pretend to be a real space simulator, but in a game (Star Citizen) where they simulate liquid dynamics when you swirl your coffee, they can't be bothered even faking planetary orbits?AFAIK, no…
