Star Citizen Discussions v7

Having a ship design resembling cover art from thirty-fourty years ago won't sell as many ships as a resemblance to a well-liked, popular game. It's about a public perception, not saying that one source or other was first.

It could be me, but I always had the impression CIG is aiming for the 35+ whale with little gaming experience. If these people knew Homeworld and were active gamers, they wouldnt fall for CRs rhetoric about his innovations. Sure, homworld is old, so it could be a cynical nostalgic-plot, but Occam's Razor suggests its probably just little imagination.

How about a lil bet then?

Will CiG sell out all 2000 JPEGs on their first day?
Will they take several days to sell all of them?
Will they sit on a stockpile of pixels people dont want to buy?

Me, I m torn really, I wish they would get a powerful message through the backers putting a foot down but considering that they know how bad that would look to the outside I guess they would simply SAY they sold everything even if nobody bought a single one.

So I m gonna go with.....

Sell-out within the first hour

Full accounts made up to 31 December 2015
Go to page 13.

So by some standards I obviously don't understand accounting, but on Page 5 (Profit and Loss) for the year to 31 Dec 2015, somehow a Gross (Loss) of (£339,098) has Administrative Expenses added to it of £604,397 to make a Profit before Taxation of £265,299? I may have been out of the trade for a few decades, but since when have Administrative Expenses become income and not a further negative sum increasing the loss? i.e. shouldn't (£339,098) be increased by (£604,397) to make a Loss Before Taxation of (£943,495)? Which would then mean the balance sheet on the subsequent pages doesn't (balance) and the accounts for 2016 then don't make sense as the retained profit/(loss) isn't reflected properly in the 2016 opening position.

Apparently these accounts have been audited...

I remember when playing Homeworld, the ships reminded me of spaceship paintings of those old sci-fi paperback covers of 60's to 80's usually found worn in the library. (ex: lots of antennae structure and brushed colors sometimes striped; closest ED painting is the "krait" one)

Be the first to get your hands on Consolidated Outland’s exciting new Pioneer mobile construction ship. Whether you’re looking to build a home away from home or strike out to claim an untouched world, the Pioneer will not only get you there, it’ll make your dreams a reality.
.
I knew it would sell out, because with 100 star systems, oh wait, per Chris Roberts that may only be 10 possibly 5 star systems on release (if ever released). With ONLY 2000 of the limited edition construction ships that would be on the high estimate of 10 systems only 200 construction ships per star system. Think of it, 10 star systems maybe 40 planets in each that you can land on (being generous), so with 40 x 10 being 400. Then only 5 construction ships per planet (400 x 5=2000) you can land on (ok ok I used 40 because it makes the math simple a well as being generous). So no matter if populated or a barren or earth like world, 5 per if evenly spread out. Of course that won't be the case, so expect to see 10 or more of these construction ships on each. Maybe people will wait till system 11 or 12 appear and be the first to claim them? Maybe wait 4-5 year and take your pick (if lucky) of 20 star systems to build on. Buy now before the price goes up.
.
Personally I took a refund and can't believe people are buying a ship like this with the known 5 to maybe 10 star systems on release, where would you even use it?

You find a deployed one, and park your Org's one directly on top of it of course :D

It then lowers it's Death Ramp, and all bear witness to it's massive destructive capabilities. This goes on until you have a whole stack of 2000 of them, and you get an achievement unlocked :D

That's true, this makes no sense. I wonder what it means

Only in a game like Elite will a ship like that make any sense. 400.000.000.000 stars.

Unique Tetris gameplay confirmed! But I'm sure Chris Roberts will come up with a spiffier name.

They still got 2 loanes to pay off, the security is all the assets related to SC and SQ42, if they don't pay back the loanes on time it's hammer time.

I don't know if backers realize how much this could impact the whole game? CIG lives from day to day basically! It's like take one credit card to pay for the other one! It ain't working. The further this goes on the more they are getting it in the Asp!

What if the rightsholder for SC and SQ42 IP is some potato with 3 pence and an orange Revel in assets?

Well the bank will take it all and do what they normally do! Sell it and try to cut their losses. No matter what it's Asp grinding time and it is not going to be good for the backers.

Maybe they transferred all the IP to a new company so the bank is chafed :)

However that will not end well either as we all know banks always get their money back one way or the other.

I wonder how they came up with the number 2000. It wouldn't be because that's how many serious whales drive the bulk of the funding these days, as claimed by a certain someone, would it? Nah, I'm sure that's just a coincidence. But if it was the case then I think you'd be right, and all of those jpegs will sell out pretty much immediately.
