The backers are definitely getting restless...had coffee come out of my nose after reading this on Spectrum [haha]

"People are still buying stuff.

If CIG needs money they can do a Rorschach Test with the community:

"CIG: What do you see here?"

"Players: - A Vanduul Starbase! A Sensor Array! A Lamp! Crippling depth! Slenderman in a fancy dress! The Anvil Lightning !"

"CIG: Well, it looks a bit like a ship. So, do you want to buy it?"

"Players: YES YES! As long as it comes with LTI!"

"Elite Dangerous with their 400+ billion stars full of nothing."

But, we do have 400+ billion stars full of basically nothing, really. Most barely have one or two moons for us to land on. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing ED as I play it every day. But I don't think the comment was all that wrong.

The question if whether 3.0 is going to be any different. There was a quote from a german article claiming that until a certain technology is finished, they will be limited to 4-5 PoIs, though I don't think it was stated if it's the limit per moon/planet, or for the entire game world.

Was that from the Gamestar article? Do you have a translation available of what you are referring to or a link please?
thanks

I'm not seeing this reported negativity toward E-D at all aside from the odd favourable comparison on spectrum or interested questions in game from quite a few who've never played it. I don't do Reddit so perhaps I'm missing all of it.

There will be those who make for tat comments of course, but what I've found is the only negativity I'm hearing is from former E-D players who can't seem to reconcile themselves to being able to play both games and enjoy them both for what they are....assuming the other one ever gets released :)

they have another concept coming out? when can I buy!?!?!?!?

Yeah? Why?

So 2018 we are not allowed to quote him on what he says today. And 2019 we are not allowed to quote him on what he says next year.
So basically, he is allowed to change both his vision, the scope of delivery, and the delivery date, indefinitely?

No.

It's humorous in a sad way that they are basically sensor their own game because it's changing so often that even they can't keep up with it. It isn't growing but it is changing. Well I certainly hope someone knows what their about.

Can't wait for Alpha 10.0 to come out at GameCon 2010.

Chief

Surely the only quotes that matter are the ones from when you paid for it, that persuaded you to buy it (if you did).
Nowhere in their blurb did it say they were going to fart about with it for years changing things...

lol ..... I am fine with delays, if SC doesnt come till late 2018 so be it... but for me the most important thing for backing was listening to the devs talk about VR... I have no interest in cockpit games on a monitor any more.

so yeah!.. sucks to be me when pertaining to Star Citizen :(

I guess, due fps part SC is not 100 % cockpit game..and I wonder how would look that "high fidelity" radar bobbling in VR...I guess bad...

Due FPS part SC is more non-VR and mouse/KB game not HOTAS and VR game like Elite...

Nothing to do with that. Its just never designed as VR game as they claim 'they can always add it later'. Just another example of CIG's incompetence. :p

Here's a summary:

https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/6nc6j6/gamestar_the_technique_behind_star_citizen/

For the part I'm referring to, search for "Currently are 4-5 special areas on planets and moons".

Thanks I've been away from home/internet so missed this. It leaves more questions than answers.

EG
"Currently there are 24 players on one server, which will probably not change in 3.0)The rework of the engine also affects the network. There will be many servers that can communicate with each other that will enable instances with thousands of players."

WHEN?

"To support the technique hardware wise, it is recommended to have an SSD and a huge amount of RAM"
does not fit with
"The minimum specs for the PC are these: 4 core CPU, 2GB GPU, 8GB RAM. Recommended is an SSD."

Oh well I guess we will see!

there are ways around this .... and indeed its something frontier will have to consider when we get space legs.
for me i would hope we get different settings for when in cockpit and when not... possibly allowing us to take off the hmd and put it back on again (as an option) and it dynamically swapping between monitor and hmd.

or perhaps setting walking about stuff to show as a cinema screen in vr as an option, so still IN vr but not "vr".

the fps is true again, but then well coded games allow for what ever frame rate your pc can pump out, and then graphics settings to allow us to hit required framerate.

but the point is its kind of moot the reasons, the point is, they were all positive about vr and even added a stretch goal for some vr (in hangar was all that was written but they talked about much more).... and yet they ignored this when it came to designing the game.

i suspect this may be the game i buy (have bought) but never play. (and i say this not as a hater trying to spread salt but as a star citizen backer and fan who is massively disappointed). only reason i have not refunded is on the off chance they DO add VR in and i dont want to lose out on getting S42 as well as SC.

as for the hotas comment, you are right, SC IS more a KB/M game rather than hotas game.. and again this is another thing that would have put me off buying and was not what was sold back in the day.

This one is interesting CIG "MMO" marketing stuff - so what happens when those thousands of players will try to see each other at the same location?!

Guess what?! "Elite" will happen :D ...answer here you wont be able to see all players, because at certain limit (24, 48, 64...) game client will crash and burn...like in "other" low fidelity games...

I am 100 % sure if there will be a game, they will have the same old Elite instancing system in the end...
