I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Stop with the 'ignorant' comments please. Everyone can make their argument and leave it at that. If someone doesn't agree they don't need to in turn become the subject of debate.

1. A well to do audio engineer that periodically works on game audio.
2. Don't see how I'm "trying" to convince people of all your ranting about. I'm merely sharing an experience and my opinion.

Don't see where all this angst is coming from but I seem to be adding purpose to people's lives and I guess that accounts for something. ;-)

Calrissian.

You rich guys will hopefully let a pleb like me crew for you[noob]. As long as I can share the profits why not? It seems like a good deal.

Dreams.

The engine is beyond salvaging.

The only thing CIG have created is some kind of social phenomenon which, like Frankenstein's monster, will turn on them with rage and fury.

Multiple devs have been talking for years now - do you think Derek Smart is the only person they've been reaching out to? Of course not, he's just the only one crazy enough to tweet about it.

People who I can not quote, (possibly multiple devs) without looking for the source (and I can not be bothered), say that only 10% of the original engine code still exists the rest has been re written. So maybe 3.0 and beyond will see a' salvaged engine';like my old wheelbarrow. They imply that it is in all ways that matter a completely new engine.

All those employees must have been doing something for 5+ years (I hope)

Where is Derek nowadays I miss his comments

Only time will tell. If it flops, I'll get my money back. Nothing to get flustered about.

I'm not rich and have nothing against taking on people if able. It's planned in the game that you'll be able to buy ships just like in ED. In time, you'll be able to have and crew your own big ship if that's what you want. :)

We are all avoiding the really important crewman question, are red shirts and wandering off to die behind unrealistic looking rocks compulsory ?.

How?

If the game is released but doesn't live up to it's promise you will not be entitled to a refund. If the company goes under before release there will be no money to refund you with.

it does depend on the monetary situation of CIG. after all they cant go refunding everyone if it flops.
curiously enough grey market might be safer than CIG now day's since you can just chargeback payments if CIG collapses.

personally i would choose neither. Instead i would suggest waiting for 2 weeks for 3.0 release.
2 weeks would mean release in citizencon in this case because im using CIG time format. (maybe release in anniversary livestream depending on robert's fidelity time dilation factor)

I believe they are insured incase things go south. Besides, the sale of new items not used is always entitled to a refund.

I mentioned earlier that I played the game Sunday. Ships available were wonderfully thought out and the need for manpower plays a significant role.

How does it play a significant role? I mean it's conceivable that multi crew could be "significant" in the future, but what exactly did you do in 2.6.3 that leveraged multi crew game play? Flew your ship while a couple of mates sat in turrets twiddling their thumbs?
Because crew roles are irrelevant when all you're doing is running around playing what amounts to a generic team deathmatch FPS.

Some folks need a little more time to tell than others, and in the meantime they are still fundraising.

If they stopped selling jpegs I wouldn't have an issue with Star Citizen or its vile community but as it happens they are still pulling in cash off the back of empty promises, and that fact overshadows and dominates all discussion.

Not everyone has spent $750 on a ship. The cost was also their way of controlling the amount of content within the game. And again, they're insured.

I was in the op pitchfork discord a week or two ago. I came across some boys and girls from an Org (that I am not a member of) I crewed a turret for them and we had a lot of fun, Its actually the first time turrets have worked properly for me, so I guess 2.6 fixed it in some way or it cleared my controls back to default.

I also got out to fix the arrays ETC whilst they guarded the ships then came to get me.

Its a fantastic community, I did not meet anyone vile, In fact in my Org anyone being rude gets made to leave. When you are in discord you do not know who's on line with Kids ETC in the house so we do not allow vileness.

I would actually say that the SC community forum is very good, the forums are much more civilised than many others. I expect that is because they are behind a paywall. The mods here have a much harder job with multiple accounts ETC.

I think Cobra 1983 must have had a bad experience or something as vile is a very strong word.

Yeah, I get that. It does take an amount of faith in what they're doing though. That said money given I believe constitutes a "charitable contribution" if things go really south. Making it a tax write-off. :)

Excellent!

I had a great time too! Especially when pulling off the actually "dropping" maneuver. Had to think about cover for the marines, approach and cover for the ship, and clear line of fire for the turret. It got tense!

I don't think insurance against bankruptcy to pay refunds is a thing. Institutions that loan them money can insure themselves but that won't help the punters.

Also if they go bankrupt or just release a failed game, they don't need to give refunds to people that are unhappy. So he still would be out of luck.

The angst comes from folks who can see right through Chris Roberts.

I give him and his team the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. The undertaking they are all doing is no simple task.

I'm not happy about ED going to console but I understand the need for Frontier to do it as that's where the money is.

They both need money and just went about it differently.
